In memory.

Thistles bloom downy silks
into summers heat after
blazing purple bonnets pass
into the dark.

Flying high on a current
of invisible rollercoasters
and melodies to foster
those who fledge long after
most have come and gone.

Yellow Warblers are long-distance migrants. They breed across most of temperate North America, from the Arctic Circle down to central Mexico. For winter, they travel south, spending their non-breeding season in Central America and northern South America, extending as far as the Amazon region, Bolivia, and Peru.

Many Yellow Warblers that breed in eastern North America undertake a impressive non-stop journey across the Gulf of Mexico during their migration. Some are known to fly nearly 800 miles in a single trip. taken in Restoule Provincial Park by @jcd.jpeg
