Dance Well Class – M+ (West Kowloon Cultural District) | 05.08 – 23.09.2026 🎨

Held at the M+, our recent Dance Well classes combined dance with contemporary art, taking participants on a unique journey of bodily exploration. This was much more than a physical exploration, it was a sensory feast intertwined with art exhibitions.

The entire series wove several of M+’s major exhibitions and spatial characteristics into the creative process, using them as themes for each session. Drawing inspiration from elements corresponding to the exhibition works, such as polished reflective paper materials, visually striking and playful twisted balloons, interactive image displays, and the exploration of emotional colours, the teaching artists encouraged participants to unleash their creativity, share joyful moments with one another, and express the inner psychological states behind colours through bodily flow and improvised movement.

Under the attentive guidance of the teaching artists, the classes went beyond mere physical stretching, evolving into a deep dialogue between mind and body. Starting from subtle movements and stillness, we tuned into our emotions, expressed ourselves sincerely through our bodies, imagination, and flow, and rediscovered connection and inner peace in the present moment through alternating rhythms of movement and stillness.

Dance Well Classes – Quarryside (Quarry Bay) | 07.08.2026 – 28.08.2026 🪄

Guided by imagination, how far can our bodies reach?

Transforming the body into a canvas of infinite hues, we weave across themes—listening to the subtle shifts of gravity, embodying the kaleidoscope of life. From the raw rhythms of street dance, we reclaim our primal strength and self-assurance; in the uncanny disarticulation of a zombie's sway, we unleash the ecstasy of breaking free. We flow like water and glide like wind through the peaks and valleys of a painted landscape, until every gesture converges into a spark of wild, enchanting magic within each dancer’s heart.

With every fall and flight of gravity, we shatter physical boundaries together. Forget about technique and experience—so long as you move from the heart, everyone becomes a dancer radiating pure, vivid life.

Dance Well Classes – Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Sha Tin) | 07.07.2026 – 01.09.2026 🌱

The moment we step into the exhibition hall, let us briefly leave the noise behind and return to the root of life. Starting from the four elements—earth, water, fire, and wind—we release our consciousness, letting distinct energies drive our movement. From the solid, grounded earth to the passionate, unleashed flame, then seamlessly turning into nourishing, flowing water and a soft, dynamic breeze, we explore the uninhibited potential of body and mind amid the rhythm and shifts of the elements.

In this ever-shifting dialogue of movement, we listen to our inner resonance, awaken the seeds of awareness, and reconnect with our most comfortable state. Carrying this flowing energy back into our daily lives, we allow the seeds planted within us to sprout and grow.

Dance Well Classes: Creative Movement Series ⸺ Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Sha Tin)

Moving through different themes, we feel as if we have stepped into a time machine, entering varied imagined worlds and transforming into different roles. Sometimes we are martial arts practitioners, focusing on our center of gravity and steps. Sometimes we are aliens, exploring our joints and limbs through unfamiliar ways of moving. Sometimes we are performers on stage, letting our movements align with rhythm and emotion.

In each one-hour class, we allow imagination to lead us, gradually loosening bodies that are often held tight in everyday life. Between shifts from one scene to the next, we search for dance steps that are freer and more at ease. Through dancing together and being there for one another, we give ourselves permission to complete each movement in our own way, expressing the thoughts and stories that belong to us.

Dance Well Classes – Jao Tsung-I Academy (Mei Foo) | 08.07.2026 – 30.07.2026 🧱

Stepping into the red-brick heritage complex, where the traces of time blended with a sense of quiet stillness, we transformed the memories of the space into the rhythm of our movements.

Across this series of classes, we moved from the living pathways of blooming lotus flowers to the steady postures of bronze statues, and on to the subtle exchanges of martial arts masters. Everyone worked to channel abstract sensations—texture, weight, softness, and tension—into their bodies, weaving them into every dance step. Each class was a fresh journey of discovery. As we guided and answered one another through creative interaction, we built collective moments rich with shared energy. The flow of that moment and its deep resonance left us with the most authentic physical echo.

【Dance Well Classes: Creative Movement & Mind-body Release Series ⸺ Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Sha Tin)】

Dance Well returns to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. While we move through different galleries, we take inspiration from what we see, reawaken bodily awareness and creativity, and let dance unfold naturally in this cultural space.

📍Creative Movement Series | Designed for Seniors
Dance Well takes you into the worlds of Cantonese opera and classic Cantonese cinema. We draw movement ideas from core Cantonese opera training, “singing, dialogues, gestures, and actions” (唱唸做打), then build simple dance combinations to well-known film melodies. Move with the music, sink into memory, and revisit the light and shadow of earlier days.

📍Mind-body Release Series | Designed for Caregivers
In this one-hour session, Dance Well invites you to return your attention to your own body. We will gradually explore bodily sensations, boundaries and translate emotions into movement. Through breath and sweat, we release and gently transform what we carry. In this space, we move together.

🗓️ Date: 11, 18, 25 August & 1 September 2026 (Every Tuesday)
🕚 Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 nn
