Livin’ the Dream!” is an unforgettable evening of comedy, storytelling, and music about chasing a dream and everything that comes with it.

The leap of faith. The exhilarating highs. The crushing lows. The unexpected twists, wrong turns, and surprising detours you never saw coming.

What happens when you finally get what you dreamed of? When the dream suddenly shatters? When you get a second chance? Or when you realize the dream you were chasing is no longer the dream you want?

“Livin’ the Dream!” takes you on a hilarious, heartfelt, and poignant journey through the wild ride of following your dreams. It is for every dreamer who has ever taken a chance, faced defeat, started over, or simply refused to give up and held on for one more day.

Hysterically funny. Brutally honest. Unexpected at every turn. After all, sometimes the greatest part of the dream is the journey.

Come from Away
Phipps Center for the Arts

I first listened to the Come from Away soundtrack on a flight to New York City…
I’ve seen productions in NYC, London, Minneapolis and in my living room…
and each time I’ve encountered the show, I’ve encountered folks I didn’t know yet and afterwards was grateful for the show expanding the aperture of the humanity that I had shared experience with.

Supporting the group of 20 humans who will close Come From Away in Hudson, Wisco tomorrow has been one of those theatrical experiences that affirms how I like to tell the stories of other people…
Be as much of yourself attempting to understand someone else to the point that the audience gets to know you and the someone else at the same time.

It’s been an absolutely nourishing hoot getting to know the 164 folks from September 11-16, 2001 through the head, heart, hands and gills of these 20 humans. I’ll think of you every time I walk into a Shopper’s.

Breathe in…
Everything happens
…Breathe out.

“Yes, and….”

Brittany Hagan put an age old question out to the world on Instagram on Wednesday evening:
Does anyone want to run the Trail Loppet Half Marathon with me on Saturday?

After not spending any time thinking about it, I replied, “Yes.”

🤷🏼

In my life, I have found that saying yes to things that point me towards new experiences with people I care about is a good practice.

📚 The two of us added a foundational memory to the storybook of our friendship today. We took care of each other, we gave each other space, we talked, we laughed, and others called us “fun” and “interesting”. 🤘

⛰️ 🏃🏼 I had never done a trail run before and by golly, it was a hoot. Nature, strangers being nice to one another, no straight path or one example of how joy is supposed to be found.

📆 amidst an always busy and volatile schedule, I was gifted the opportunity of time and space to be, and play, and breathe sweetest air…Minnesota air is special.

New friends 🤝 🫂 Arc’teryx Southdale and their remarkable team helped me get some trail shoes and gear on Friday night so I would be ready to do the thing on Saturday morning and Emily, Megan, Jamal and my old friend Sara are all now in my mind and heart as I think about ways that we can stir up some good stuff together in this life.

So, keep your eyes open for the moments that you can say yes to, and….see what happens when you do. by @jclippold

It’s downright autumnal out there! Elizabeth, Ben and I chatted about it today on Twin Cities Live!

This is my favorite time of the year in Minnesota because we have a literal off-ramp from one season to the next. The end of the State Fair marks the unofficial entrance into Fall and provides us with a few weeks until September 22nd when we officially enter the season.

Getting ready for shorter days, cozier weather and sometimes bigger feelings is something that can happen THROUGH us rather than TO us.

Have your morning coffee on the Front Step ☕️
Our bodies LOVE experiencing the morning sun. Cortisol, which is your wake-up hormone, is released with fresh air, morning sun and some movement. So, getting outside for a few minutes helps get the sleep out of your eyes!

🍂 Fall colors and Chunky scarves
We may give folks a hard time for craving Pumpkin Spice on September 1st but give them a break, they are trying to bring the summer plane in for a soft landing…
🧡💚💛 Start shifting your wardrobe and home décor to fall colors
🧣 Put on your comfy sweaters, hats, scarves and hoodies that make you feel cozy
🕯️ Switch your 3-wick candle from Fresh Lilac to Apple Harvest

☀️Bring a little sunshine to those who need it…
Folks with Seasonal Affective Disorder often struggle with the change of the season and then often perk back up a bit until late fall and winter. So, now is a great time to mindfully…
✏️ 🥭 Break out the pencil and paper and write a handwritten note to someone you know needs a little pick me up
🚶🏽 🚶🏼‍♀️ Ask your friend or neighbor to go for a walk and catch up

I risk to be one who causes others’ eyes to roll by saying certain things a lot.
Two of these things are:
1️⃣ Do Little Things Often
2️⃣ If anyone is important, no one is.

As I wiggled around Sydney, NSW this weekend, I encountered 5 folks who smushed these two statements together in a way that reminded me why I’ll keep risking eye rolls.

⚽️ the Ted Lasso twins
Within the first 5K of the marathon I saw two folks adorned in Coach Lasso energy and attire. Standing under an overpass, they understood the power and perspective this tv show would offer. 5 hours later, I saw them again in the Finishers’ Area still fully living their Lasso dreams and supporting the masses. I shouted to them across the lawn, “Ted Lassos! And they gave me a moment to share that I remembered them.”

👗 the girl in the purple dress
On the sidewalk was a bench facing the storefronts. A little girl in a purple fairy dress was leaned over the back, holding on white-knuckled with one hand and extending the other to high five runners with all her might shouting, “C’mon Mate.”, at the top of her lungs.

🐶 the little dog
With the help of his mother, this brown fur ball of a pup doggy-paddled his paws at strangers transferring his puppy power through pets and kisses. I told him about Jefferson, Willow, and Franklin.

🥤 the man with the can of Coke
At 40K, a man stood in a clearing with no other spectators; a can of Coke in his hand. Not cheering, he looked me in the eyes as if to say, “the world told me you would want an ice cold Coke right now.” In my delirium, as if he was the angel at the end of a tunnel of white light, I asked, “Me?”, and he said, “Yes, you.” I told him about the woman in the Bronx and the elderly couple in Tokyo who at a similar place in those races also provided me Coke and asked him how he kept it so cold and if he had more cans somewhere or if this was the only one…he said, “Go!”
