Summer 2026 vibes continued: please comment below with which of the following is the most appropriate post headline:

1: jCorf, is this first photo performative reading?
2: proof of living my best life
3: pt 2 of summer time in LA recap
4: in search of relief from the heatwave
5: some of jCorf’s adventures/recommendations

This first photo was taken recently at @thehuntingtonlibrary
The following slides are a look back at the month of July 🌞🌇

During the first week of July: some of my free time spent replaying Super Mario Galaxy 2. Very well might be my favorite video game of all time.

Wednesday July 8: (not pictured: brunch with mom for her birthday. I wish we had taken a photo together) following brunch, my sibling @likeitsbritt & I enjoyed seeing the latest Minions film. Truly iconic, hilarious and moving story!

Wednesday July 15: sibling summer adventures continue. This time to go see some art in downtown. Both @likeitsbritt and I enjoyed spending quite awhile sitting in the room with Star-Crossed Rendezvous by Haegue Yang at the @moca

More of Star-Crossed Rendezvous by Haegue Yang

Made our way across the street to @thebroadmuseum to take in some of the art including this Untitled 2020 by (one of my favs) Henry Taylor @chinatowntaylor

Supporting the local vendor fruit carts are essential to heatwave survival

“Heat Stress is Not Cool” poster as seen on LA Metro A Line train as we rode back to Pasadena from downtown. Later this same day we went to see Spielberg’s Disclosure Day.

Saturday July 18: happy birthday Christian! Pictured here Arto, Omar, Christian & I enjoying some tacos after having a blast at the Ontario Tower Buzzers minor league baseball game!

Monday July 27th: upon finding out of the passing of legendary artist Betye Saar, I went straight from getting off of work to go to the Huntington to sit with her assemblage work “Drifting Toward Twilight”

A video clip from the mini documentary made about Drifting Toward Twilight. Her prioritization of collaboration (such as the Huntington gardeners) to integrate found materials is part of what made her seven decade long career so magical.

Tuesday July 28th: another day of time well spent w by @jcorf

1: felt cute, won’t delete later
2: proof of life
3: summer time in LA recap
4: proof of heatwave survival
5: some of jCorf’s adventures/recommendations

This first photo was taken today at my peaceful place. The following slides are a look back at June.

Tuesday, June 2nd: I highly recommend the free daily architecture tour of the Los Angeles Public Central Library in downtown. @lapubliclibrary

Octavia Butler, one of Los Angeles’ most prolific authors, and a frequent patron of the downtown library. Her legacy is memorialized throughout the library including the makers lab, as well as this historical artifacts collection in the 2nd floor rotunda.

In the spirit of it being midterm primary Election Day, I did my civic duty to sign up for my LA Public Library card. Plus it’s got this outstanding centennial design!

Thursday, June 4th: Godzilla and other lovely figurines on display at @miyaonlake in Altadena

Friday, June 12th: much like a library & Godzilla, Woody Guthrie’s guitar also fights fascists. This photo is displayed as a part of the Huntington’s This Land Is… exhibit— a unique reflection on American history as examined through the land. @thehuntingtonlibrary

Wednesday, June 17th: a great time was had visiting the dinos at the Natural History Museum for my play nephew Hendrix’s birthday. His dad Arto, along with Omar & I, made our way to the museum via Metro light rail. Lunch at Grand Central Market was also a success.

Saturday, June 20th: the LA area’s cutest couple rides the Metro A Line to downtown to Grand performances. Not pictured: yummy dinner & fun times with @williammatthewsx

Jimetta Rose presents: MettaSun: A Sun Ra Inspired Operatic Experience at @grandperfs

Friday, June 26th: meeting Mandalorian & Grogu in a galaxy far, far away.

My niece Amaya in her best forky (from Toy Story) voice: “carry me, carry me, carry me”. It’s her birthday so of course I picked her up, but getting emotional that this could be one of the last times I can handle carrying her. She’s growing up so quick.

In the long but worthwhile line for Toy Story ride.

My favorite conversation with John is the one where we realized our idea of soulmates had changed.
There isn’t just one person meant for you, there could be many.
Love is a choice.
When we met, we weren’t searching to be loved, we were searching to be seen.
Seen in our quirks, our insecurities, our becoming.
Love is beautiful, yes.
But being seen?
That’s the part that makes it last. taken in Los Angeles, California by @jcorf

When many of you have asked how does it feel? I simply still don’t have the words to describe it. I just feel grateful. Returning to earn my college degree has been a journey of deliberate rediscovery.

The past few years have included some of the most challenging and rewarding moments of my life. I persevered with the support & compassion of my wife, family, friends, peers, and professors. I truly feel like I have found my people, or what we in Communication Studies at Cal State LA have been calling our COMMunity.

Here’s some great snapshots from Cal State LA’s Commencement last Wednesday May 21st. Thank you @karenmarieco for capturing these great photos! And thank you to my sister in law @mikaela.sinclaire for adding some COMMunity and Dodgers swag to my grad cap!

Whether it’s going back to school, writing your book, applying for a new job or starting a new creative project, go for it!
It may sound overzealous, but don’t let anything stop you.

If you find the right community for you, many things are possible! Even when this world of ours continues to feel so very fragile. Especially during times like this, we need each other, we need creativity, wherever you may find it! taken in Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall by @jcorf
