SUM 50 2026. @sydneyultramarathons

Thank you to my crew Roxie, Jax and Nix meeting us at every aid station, you have no idea what that meant out there. And the bro Ajay, surviving the cold, the heat, the elevation, the descents, and giving up his cramp fix at 27km when I needed it most. You saved the race.

To everyone who came out to the aid stations to support, seeing familiar faces is everything.

This weekend @job_x_fit ran 5km every hour for 28 hours straight for his 28th birthday. 140km total, just because he said he would.

I jumped in for the graveyard shift. 9pm through to 9am. 60km across 12 hours through the night. The longest run of my life. Job was already 80km deep before I even laced up. I had absolutely no right to complain about anything. My only job was to show up and keep moving no matter what state I was in. The first few hours felt manageable. But then the hours got strange. You’d finish a lap, sit down, have something to eat. And then, five minutes before the hour, his alarm. That sound, every single time. It didn’t matter if you’d just sat down, if your legs were heavy, if your eyes were closing. Five minutes before the hour that alarm went off and it meant one thing. Time to go again. By 6am I hit a wall I couldn’t get through and had to take an hour break. Sat down and dozed off in the freezing cold. Thought about staying there. Then I got back up. Because that’s what everyone else was doing. That’s what Job was doing.

Now here’s the part that was its own battle entirely. 26 days into 75 Hard. Whole foods only. All the things your brain starts screaming for when it’s sleep deprived, cold, and running on empty. The smell of someone’s hot food at 3am when you’ve been running for six hours is a different kind of torture. I had rice cakes, honey and dates. And honestly, that was hard. Mentally. When you’re that depleted, that cold, that tired, food becomes emotional. I’m glad I made the right choice every time - but it wasn’t easy.

But here’s what I took away: your body is capable of things your mind hasn’t caught up to yet. The limits you think you have are almost never where they actually are. You find that out by doing things that are uncomfortable. Job does this constantly. He does hard things and quietly makes everyone around him want to do hard things too.
