Taxi, boat, train, plane, taxi. One week at home spring cleaning, stacking wood, surfing and melting in the sauna. This time of year in WA you can watch the grass grow and FEEL things bloom. There’s no quick way to get here, maybe that’s what sets it apart. by @jdh_films

Send Revel a rainbow today! 🌈 She’s in the hospital receiving a treatment we hope will shrink her inoperable brain tumor and stabilize her vision. She’s a brave little warrior and rainbow is her favorite color. She’s currently drawing pictures and handing them out to the hospital staff! We’re praying this therapy will allow her to keep seeing the colors, places and faces she’s grown to love in her almost 5 years on the planet. #parenting #twins #cancer #nf1 #neurofibromatosis #rainbowvision by @jdh_films

Choosing the right lens is a skill. The way a scene is framed dramatically affects its impact. Pulling lenses out of a camera bag is something I’ve practiced at work, but I’m learning to appreciate optics in new ways as I attempt to navigate life’s plot twists. Parenting requires a bit of reframing. A wider lens helps new subjects to fit in the picture. Focus pulls from the main character as new storylines take life. I’ve been working on accepting the fact that there is no lens that will allow me to see through my children’s eyes. I can’t help but wonder how the health challenges my daughter faces will effect her and her twin sister. The best I can do is support the role they’ve been chosen to play and reach for the emotional and spiritual lenses more often. Holding the vision and keeping the faith. Our family has been on the east coast and Revel recently had her 6 month post surgery scans. The western medicine lens showed stability in her optic glioma and body. She’s gained close to ten pounds since May, and her holistic view is vibrant. The girls turn 4 just before New Year and are very into singing Christmas carols. Thanks to everyone who has sent love our way, here we are sending some back! by @jdh_films

Are tandem toddler bikes a thing? 🚲 🚲 We’ve been home for a few weeks now and Revel has been making some amazing strides. She’s been very into foraging wildflowers and salmon berries and we’re overjoyed to see her gaining some weight. It’s felt really good to reconnect to our friends and family on the west coast and we’re all looking forward to some more time at the beach before we head east for our next round of care. 🌞🏕️❤️ by @jdh_films

Revel Rane will be the first to tell you, “I’m not sick.” Toddler psychologists please weigh in here, because I’m very hesitant to label our baby or tell her anything aside from that she’s whole, but needs a little extra help right now. In one version of reality, by this weekend she will be a cancer survivor. It’s not a road many children venture down, but she is taking it in stride. She waves and says hello to everyone we pass in those white hallways. The hospital staff can’t get enough of her. @hossandhare is such a rock and advocate for her and connects all the dots between the all the different doctors and specialists we’re networking with over the last weeks and extended hospital stays. My heart bursts and breaks at the same time. ❤️‍🩹 To all you beautiful energetic souls that have reached out, sent prayers or smoke signals into the cosmos, thank you for being part of her care team. We all feel it and the continued support is helping our family navigate this stage of her healing journey immensely. If anyone has experience or advice on how to help kiddos through this kind of thing, we’re all ears. We’re doing our best to best to keep slightly more detailed medical updates rolling through the go fund me that our sweet friend @morgainemaeverick set up for us and also there’s something really special happening at our favorite shop @moss_angeles called Camp Revel. If all goes well we are looking at coming home to WA in mid to late May and hope to connect with as many of you as we can in person. You all are a real beacon of light, thanks again for sharing all your magic with Revel, I know she’s looking forward to sharing hers with you. 📷 @colin_wise_man #camprevel #parenting by @jdh_films
