BREAKING NEWS 🗞️ I OFFICIALLY GOT OFFERED MY DREAM JOB 🥹 📚 Aka me a first-generation college graduate, daughter of immigrants, and 27-year-old Latina woman is going to become a full time faculty at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication! 🔱 I’ll get to empower the next generation of journalists, digital marketers, and communicators and I can’t even describe in words the gratitude and excitement I’m feeling in this moment. One of my life dreams has always been to become a teacher no matter what industry or career I chose because there’s something so special about giving someone the gift of knowledge and your undeniable support while they soak it all in 💡 🧠 Having caring teachers and mentors changed my life… and if there’s one thing I know it’s that I’m going to put my heart and soul in to teaching my students hoping one day I’ll do the same ❤️🥹 by @jefadiary

My entire life I embraced and felt very proud of my “straight’ identity. I grew up in a Catholic household and religion was my north star. I believed I was a “good person” and felt connected to the values of service and giving back. I did not realize I was homophobic too. I had few friends that were part of the LGBTQ+ community and I felt uncomfortable and afraid around them. I did not want their queerness to “spread” to me. I thought their “lifestyle” was a sin. Everything changed when I fell in love with the most unexpected person in college. My mind and body became chaos. How could this happen? This was not the way it was supposed to be. My internalized homophobia made me feel like I was the worst person in the world but I felt the happiest I’d ever been. Ultimately, the relationship would come to an end but my sexual identity-crisis was just getting started. 💔 Why can’t I just not be this?💔 Does this make me bad person? 💔 Why do people have hatred towards people for simply loving another person?💔 Was the relationship ending a punishment from God that my “lifestyle” was sinful?💔 Why could I just not go back to my regular life?💔 Why do I need a certain label?💔 Do I need to look or act a certain way?💔 Why is my sexuality relevant to other people?Why Why Why. The questions and emotions flooded me and I’d go back and forth. Today, it’s not the same as it was and it never will be ❤️ I’m drawing the rainbow lines in the sand 🌈 I’m shouting from the virtual rooftops because I love myself just the way I am and I’m proud to be me. 🥺 I’m so grateful for my queerness and the beautiful people that have paved the way (@tringsby @jvn @iamhalsey @zolita @findingxfletcher @edenxjay @antoni and my incredible friends especially @treyleveque for being a part of my LA Pride journey) 🥰Now it’s my turn to take up space in this world and love in whatever way feels authentic and meaningful to me. A cute lil’ teaching interview day vlog 🤓🔱💼What a special core memory to be back at the Cronkite School and interview with some of my biggest inspirations and role models 🥰It was incredible to see how the school has transformed since I’ve graduated and to meet and hear from impressive Cronkite Agency students who are creating digital strategy and PR campaigns for REAL CLIENTS.I was so impressed and blown away because they’re running a full agency model but doing all the work as students meaning they’re building media lists, managing client relationships, leading meetings, creating social content, building organic growth strategies, and SO MUCH MORE! 🤯 Honestly after 5 hours of interviewing and then 2 hours of meetings after my Cibo celebration 🍕 🍷 I’m absolutely exhausted but my heart is so full with gratitude for this special memory and for all the support from everyone 🥰❤️ I did my absolute best but the committee will decide now and I should hear back next week. Thank you again for all the love and cheering me on so hard 🥹 I’ll share once I have more news but for now we are being present and celebrating the moment together! ✨ by @jefadiary

We all have special STRENGTHS ❤️But, Latina women are often taught to be humble and conditioned to not celebrate their unique talents. 🥺This is a major problem because a big part of becoming an exceptional leader is standing tall in who you are, being confident in what you bring to the table, and knowing what you do best. 👏🏽 How do you discover your strengths? Well it starts with intentional self awareness and reflection but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start. But, I got you! In my latest podcast, I share three of the top exercises/tools I’ve used to discover my unique strengths. How did I become a cool and confident leader? 😎Well it all started back in 2012 when I attended the 4-day @hobyaz youth leadership seminar.At HOBY, I learned my strengths, my style of leadership, and how I could make an impact on this world. And I’ve never looked back 💁🏽‍♀️ I love this organization so much that I still volunteer more then 10 years later and this time I’m going BIG by pledging to raise $1,000 in the next 28 days. Why? Well, the transformative seminar which serves 150+ rising juniors is completely volunteer-run and donor/grants funded meaning it’s only possible because of your support. 🥹So help me put on a life-changing youth leadership seminar where we bring high schoolers out of their shell by wearing the most fun and quirky outfits, unlock their leadership potential with thought-provoking programs, and create a catalyst for BIG community impact. Every little bit matters, and I’m so grateful you took the time to read this. 27 and feeling better than ever 💪🏽 Taking a big deep breath today because for the first time in a LONG time I’m feeling so at peace 😌I’m feeling confident in who I amI’m feeling aligned with my purpose I’m feeling all the emotions of being human and that includes the “bad” or bumpy or chaotic like these battle ropes I’m feeling like some rules I’ve followed my entire life are meant to be broken or released and I’m ready to let go I’m feeling like I’ll actually decide what is or isn’t possible for me I’m feeling like rest and breaks and fun is needed and doesn’t make me lazy so my inner child is obsessed I’m feeling like big things are coming and that my role in this world is to make impact and serve my community I’m feeling like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be and that even if I don’t know where I’m going I’ll be okie and I’ll find my destinationAnd I’m feeling 27 😉 by @jefadiary
