Here is a series of video clips. After spending time in Torres del Paine following pumas through snow-covered landscapes, chasing winter light and trying to make photographs while keeping up with some very determined wildlife photographers, I’m not sure what I expected from this trip—but I came home with more than I had ever imagined.
This adventure was about much more than photography. It was about patience, perseverance, spectacular landscapes, gauchos, horses, pumas, plenty of laughs, and sharing the experience with an incredible group of friends, photographers and fellow adventurers.
And somehow, once again, I find myself incredibly fortunate to be included in another wild adventure thanks to @michellevalbergphotography AI have to admit that meeting Michelle has changed my life for the better.
Michelle, thank you for the friendship, the invitations, the adventures and for continuing to open the door to places and experiences I could never imagine on my own. I’m incredibly grateful for this trip—and for the friendships that have come from this and so many other adventures.
A huge thank you to @wildcat_expeditions and the amazing team who shared their knowledge, passion and deep respect for Patagonia and its wildlife. And to our guides Jorge, Matt and Roberto, thank you for helping us see and experience this incredible place in such a meaningful way. Thank you @bozemancamera for getting the trip together.
Torres del Paine in winter… pumas, snow, mountains, great friends and a few thousand photographs later. Not a bad way to spend some time cooling off at the Southern edge of the world while it hit over 100 degrees at home. Hopefully wil will continue to learn about video and improve my skills to better represent the amazing beauty this world has to offer.
Here’s to the next adventure… taken in Torres Del Paine National Park by @jeffmitchell2112

A last look at Petaca. This was captured the last night we were out on the ranch. Petaca was the first and the last puma we saw on this trip. She is a beautiful creature and basically considered royalty. She spent most of that afternoon sleeping in a bush of thorns near her recent kill. As the sun faded and she was immersed in shadow, it looked like we were not going to be able to get any good photos. She then got up, walked a short distance, stretched and laid down in the sun facing us. Another wonder gift from Patagonia and this amazing creature. On July 19th I was able to make a post from a remote location in Torres del Paine. On a hillside with a special group of people as we all stood patiently by as Dania cat napped in the late afternoon sun. This photo cropped and uncropped is from that afternoon. What a beauty she is! Thank you @wildcat_expeditions @bozemancamera and especially @michellevalbergphotography for making all of this come together. taken in Torres Del Paine National Park by @jeffmitchell2112

A rare sighting for me. A male puma in Torres del Paine. He was fairly far away. This is uncropped at 840mm. I like the compression and the layers. by @jeffmitchell2112

Determined! We were treated to this amazing sight after we thought that we had finished for the day. This beautiful creature crossed our paths as the sun was setting and we were heading back to the ranch. We scrambled out of the cars and were treated to some last minute images against this beautiful hillside. Thank you Jorge and @wildcat_expeditions along with @bozemancamera for getting this all together taken in Torres Del Paine National Park by @jeffmitchell2112

Back in the US! I am almost home and have had a little time to look at some of the images I created. This photo was captured with an IR converted Z8 (thank you @kolarivision for the great product). We were out on a working ranch on a freezing cold morning. I wanted to try the IR camera with the backlight and the cold. I like what I was able to capture and love the 28-135 lens. Thank you again Jorge and Matty for setting us up. There were many challenenges that morning but you all pushed through them to make sure that we had a good opportunity to crease. @wildcat_expeditions @bozemancamera @michellevalbergphotography each of you make these events come together seamlessly. You are all the best! Thank you Nikon. The gear makes the creation process easier. @nikonusa taken in Cerro Castillo Patagonia by @jeffmitchell2112

We all had an opportunity to stop here for lunch and make an 8k timelapse. I decided to go B&W with a red filter and a NiSi Gradual ND. We wrapped this up a little faster than planned when we received information from our trackers @wildcat_expeditions that we had an opportunity to catch up with Dania. I've made several images and timelapse videos from this location. It never disappoints or gets old. That is the beauty of Torres del Paine. Thank you @bozemancamera and @michellevalbergphotography for a great workshop! by @jeffmitchell2112

I am unwinding before the flight home. While I cannot wait to get home, I am already missing Patagonia. I cannot wait to go through the images and videos created here, review and edit them. Here is the first sighting of the trip. Pataca up on a ridge line. We saw pumas every day that we were on the ranch. A total of 8 different pumas! We saw fox and a wide variety of birds including flamingos! all that set against the beautiful backdrop of Torres del Paine. I cannot thank the people I was with enough. @wildcat_expeditions @bozemancamera @michellevalbergphotography and an amazing group of people that I was fortunate enough to share this past week with. They are all warriors. Until next February..... (this file was captured with a Z9, 600mm 4.0 lens with built in TC engaged and an additional 1.4 TC all handheld). I love what this technology has given to me and my storytelling ability. by @jeffmitchell2112
