POSTS STORIES REELS

Over the past year, I took 100 of my favorite major ii–V–I phrases that I’ve used to build my vocabulary and technique and turned them into something I’ve wanted to create for a long time.
The finished project is kind of crazy: 667 pages + more than 9 hours of companion video lessons.

Comment “BOOK” for the link or click the link in my bio.
I’m really excited to finally share this one! 🎷

Focused on keeping my articulation light and playing across the barline even when the harmony moves around a lot. Find it is definitely a challenge to play with lots of volume at faster tempos. What tunes do you like to call at jam sessions?

Reed seals much better after getting the table made more even on this modern Otto Link 6. The same guy at Roberto’s in NYC opened this one up to a 6*. It took me a couple of days to adjust but I think it was worth it. Also playing on a Theo Wanne “Brahma” 7* that I’m really liking. I feel like it’s a lot less work to get volume and keep the sound centered with the Brahma.

First time getting work done on a mouthpiece. Found this Otto Link many years ago after my teacher Walt Weiskopf told me to get one. I had it opened up a few years later from a 6 to a 6* by a guy at Roberto’s in NYC. He leveled the table as well. It took me a minute to get used to it again but it was worth it.

Mouthpiece definitely cuts and is on the brighter side! It’s pretty free blowing especially considering the tip opening is bigger than I’m used to. Playing on D’Addario Jazz Select 3 soft reeds here. What museum piece Mark VI!! Plays so well. Anyone playing on one of these vintage Brilhart mouthpieces?
