First Brazilian Jiu-jitsu comp today. Lost by 3 points when my opponent passed my guard for a few seconds, but stayed in a dominant position with constant attacks for most of the 5 minute round. Learned a ton, what a wild experience. by @jeffreylherbert

During lap 1 of the June 28th Spec Corvette Laguna Seca Race, my engine blew. Simultaneously I heard a pop, felt the accelerator die, and saw fire fill my rear view mirror. So I hit the brakes and moved off of the racing line, 180’d to a stop, pulled my fire suppression system handle, hit the master kill switch, window net, door, coolsuit…out in seconds and the car was no longer on fire. Besides the engine launching a rod through the oil pan, the car is in good shape. It will be a while before 905 is ready to race, but plans are being made!

Today was a big day for 905. With a failing transmission affecting racing, it was time to figure some things out. I worked with Arizona’s premier (and kinda secret underground) corvette performance shop @smsautocom to swap out a transmission, install a fresh clutch and flywheel, rebuild a torque tube, and a differential, weld up cracks in the exhaust and even diagnose unknown issues. Tomorrow we put ‘er back together.

I wore out my brake master cylinder bedding pads before my last race, meaning the pedal went to the floor without stopping the car. Fortunately this rare occurrence happened in the best possible scenario and besides missing a race, all was well. This weekend I installed a new upgraded master cylinder and brake booster in a massive leveling up of my mechanic skills.
