Pax Americana, 2026, oil on canvas, 24" x 48"

Finally done. I enjoyed the push and pull with this over the last year. Complicated but a pure joy to work on. Multiple glazes makes the color 😘.

Cowgirl with Eagle, 2026, oil on panel, 24" x 12"

Started in 2020. Technical issues made me abandon this twice. It sat around for a year and a half before I picked it up again this year and went a different way. A piece is never done; until it's done. Like how this one ended up. Color screams. Sometimes the journey isn't always fun until it's over. by @jeffstauderart

Back from Chicago where I was gobsmacked by the Willem de Kooning drawing show at the Art Institute. I fell hard for these in my early twenties, especially the earlier work, and 30+ years later my feelings for them remain the same. De Kooning for me is one of those very rare painters (maybe a dozen, ever) who consistently made the most beautiful, complex, energized, and interesting lines, seemingly without an effort. Finally got to be with "Excavation", 1950 & it didn't disappoint. Praises.
