REPLIKA — spilling my heart out on the internet and sharing the story of this collection and song I wrote that was inspired by it. I wrote Great to Gold for the LDF Drink and Draw with @em.lev05 and @axel.ashh in our band Harmony Park. 1. Replika’s central inspiration is the cafe I have worked at for the past four years, @cafereplika. The collection draws on coffee rituals, routines, and the intimacy of repeated encounters. Over these four years, I have accumulated a rich collection of memories and relationships with neighbourhood regulars, each growing slowly over time and becoming special in its own way. 2. Initially I drew inspiration from the cafe’s physical decor: the earthy colours, the lush, green house plants teeming with life, the wood patina on tables and counters, and worn furniture holding years of stories and the touch of so many people. The collection has now grown so much deeper than this aesthetic surface as I have reflected on the many friendships I have been so lucky to have built, one of which being my dear friend Emily who co-wrote the song with me. 3. I asked my good friend and coworker Kate to model for my very first styling session. She gave me the confidence to trust my own vision and push through fear and doubt in bringing my dream out into the world. 4. Coco is my muse who helped me further immerse myself in the collection. We met by complete coincidence in the cafe while I was working at Replika, after I had sent her a cold DM asking her to model for me just the night before. Thank you for showing up for me for the past few months, offering endless kindness and support along the way. 5. Replika’s final lineup, establishing polka dots as the main motif. The vision has evolved even more over the last two months, with the use of this motif allowing me to play more and have more fun in the design process. This dream was made possible by @lignesdefuite.studio mentorship, trust, and support. Thank you to my best friend @maedaeeeee for believing in me, letting me talk about this project every day, and helping me needle felt.
