@raymotion.nl has some tricks up their sleeve to change all this. Increased ride-height. Overlanding accessories. Decent tires. And there you go. Ready for action. I had the pleasure of using it last weekend during the @baronierijders Brabant Grens Rit together with Jelle (@jellevanuem). And became a huge fan: it just doesn’t stop. That GTS V8 sounds excellent and performs perfectly. Also got to try Benchmark hill and the only thing stopping the car there might be the weight.
Excellent package. And no wonder there’s a waiting list at Ray’s for these. I’m gonna look for a GTS now…

E30. BMW Motorsport colors. Warsteiner all over it. “M3” badge in grille and on trunk, awesome. But… where’s the fender-flares? Well, only a tribute? Maybe with a luscious M20B25 straight-six, definitely a good alternative. Sounds like a 4-banger though… Wait… It can’t be, can it?
Yes, for both the Italian and Portugese market BMW made a 2000cc downsized M3, for fiscal reasons. The “320iS”. No fenderflares. But yes: S14. But “B20” instead of “B23”. Still 191hp (!!!). And, as production numbers are way lower than the regular M3: very special. It was even available as a 4-door, the ultimate sleeper.
This one competed in last weekend’s “Brabant Grensrit”, organized by the @baronierijders. I competed as well, together with Jelle (@jellevanuem) but that’s for another day. Tomorrow. Probably.

Remi (@remichanics) already warned Jelle (@jellevanuem) and me when starting the Twingo Thusis Tour: France’s charging infrastructure is way better than the German counterpart. So outbound we went through France with no issues whatsoever. But returning through Germany was way more challenging. Even giving us very few fast-charging opportunities at one point near Bingen if I remember correctly. At least, not without leaving the Autobahn too much.
So we ended up on some industrious site. And next to that charging station, some Mk2 Golf meeting was just ending. And this truly was a first: there was literally NO interaction with the Golf owners. As if they could tell and hated the fact we came there in a tiny French electric car. Which probably has more interior space than a Mk2 Golf. But still.

The assignment was easy: get the new Renault Twingo E-Tech to it’s granddaddy, Remi’s (@remichanics) first gen Twingo that was electrified decades ago by Swiss company Kamoo. Using Sodium-Nickel-Chloride batteries that, by now have been replaced by Remi. Using Renault Zoe tech.
I couldn’t be driving all over Europe alone so I quickly checked Jelle (@jellevanuem) if he could join, knowing he has a first gen Twingo as well and, more importantly, he has the same reputation for having a “heavy right foot”. Yep. I like a challenge.
In Switzerland Colin (@colin_crameri) also joined. We even ended up on a hydro power dam, getting lunch in Italy and spending some time in Juf, Europe’s highest village with permanent residents (2,126 meters above sea level). But the Twingo E-Tech felt like it could do way more so we went up the Albula pass as well (2,312 meters), being joined even with an Albula railway train (famous!!!) at one point.
I already felt the Twingo to be a very capable city car when I got to try it in Amsterdam. People afraid of it’s range: no worries there. Well, almost none. It can charge fast enough at 50kw, I’d say you have about 180km within 20 minutes. Unless… It’s 40 degrees. Then the Twingo misses “active cooling” and the batteries don’t allow 50kw to be uploaded an hour no more.
Would I do it again? No doubt. What a car. What a deal for 20k. I just hope Renault considers adding active cooling on their option list. That would make it simply perfect for those without 3 kids and a hurdle of dogs.

ik mocht de nieuwe Renault Twingo testen! ik hoef jullie niet te vertellen hoe leuk hij is, maar dat ga ik later toch doen in een artikel op kekkekarren.nl. ondertussen heb ik hier alvast wat voorproefjes: originele 90s persfoto's in een nieuw jasje.

onder regie van @glennslopsma en met hulp van modellen @jellevanuem , @stendrt en @roel_siebrand (@zoabmagazine). de groene Twingo is van Jelle. er is ook nog een blauwe Twingo, die is van @lisavdlem maar die komt pas in de verdere foto's tevoorschijn.

Today was a day filled with a fantastic project: @jobjoris and @jellevanuem drove the the new Renault Twingo E-Tech from the mouth of the Rhine in Rotterdam (Hoek van Holland) all the way to the source of the (Hinter-)Rhine here in Switzerland and to the highest village in Europe — proving that even with a modest battery, longer journeys are entirely achievable.

The destination of the trip was the Valle di Lei dam, situated at nearly 2,000 metres above sea level in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland. Here — right on the dam itself — the new Renault Twingo E-Tech met face to face with its ancestor: My own electric converted Renault Twingo!

We had a great day documenting, photographing and filming, assisted by my son @colin_crameri as a driver and an additional drone pilot to take in all the impressive landscape and mind-blowing civil engineering structure of the hydro power dam that doesn't come through in a simple picture like this one.

You will see a lot more and better footage and side stories from @jobjoris and the rest of the team over time, but I have to say that this was one of the best car photography projects I've ever done in terms of storytelling and scenery.

Thanks @joboris and @jellevanuem for sharing this adventure with me!

Nóg een post over de Texelrally? Ja, want deze foto’s door @glennslopsma mag je niet missen.

Ook wil ik nog een extra shoutout doen naar zus en navigator @sasjavanuem die ondanks mijn eigenwijsheid (“ik zou niet over de landbouwsluis gaan” “jawel”) ons wederom succesvol naar het eindpunt heeft gedirigeerd.

Over dirigeren gesproken; speciale vermelding voor de outfits van @rosalieholtslag en @stendrt, die waren verkleed als André Rieu en een viool. Daar heb ik momenteel geen foto’s van. Jullie moeten me maar geloven.

Afgelopen zaterdag deden @sasjavanuem en ik weer mee met de texelrally, georganiseerd door Daan van @kekkekarren. Dit was al weer de derde editie en uiteraard voor de tweede maal niet op Texel.

Het was wederom een groot feest ❤️

Gisteren was een mooie dag! Minder dan 20 uur na terugkomst van vakantie besloot ik, een klein beetje impulsief, om een leuke auto voor er bij te kopen.

De Laguna II staat in elk lijstje van “top 10 minst betrouwbare auto’s”, maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Deze Laguna is van mij en ik heb met hem afgesproken dat ie het blijft doen, pinky swear

Sowieso is dit niet zo maar een Laguna! Deze insta-famous Laguna heeft meer fans dan ik en is deze zomer op avontuur geweest naar #fotu met @kekkekarren @stendrt @parkedindutchstreets @plankhond en @teddy_the_xc90 en is daar op enkele opzettelijke krassen na helemaal ongeschonden van af gekomen.

Voorlopig is de Laguna in mijn beheer, en ik ben er tot nu toe helemaal blij mee. Ik heb hem al een uur of twaalf en hij is nog steeds niet stuk. Dat zie ik als overwinning. Mocht het toch fout gaan ben ik natuurlijk besties met de @anwb en de @dashausautomotive pechservice. by @jellevanuem

Daar is ie weer! Was al bijna de marktplaats advertentie aan het typen, maar was vergeten hoe leuk dit ding is. Welkom terug 435i, dat er nog vele probleemloos-ish kilometers zullen volgen. by @jellevanuem
