I’m happy to share the release of the video for @marissa_nadler , If I Could Breathe Underwater. Link to full video in my bio.

The story behind this video was something that came to me immediately the first time that I listened to the track. This song took on many meanings to me and I love that about it. How beauty and tragedy collide… Dreaming of having supernatural powers to change reality and have the ability to live and breathe underwater. It could also speak to the duality of existence. That we all have inner personas or shadow selves, and how we envision those different masks we wear. How we may long to live as the most magical of those masks. I chose to make something that touched on the idea of duality and the inner persona. Knowing that this part of you exists. To connect to the two worlds.

This was shot on #16mm film (with the exception of the underwater shots). I love creating with analog film. I feel that classic cinema really captures a nostalgic feeling and a dreamy quality that no other medium can. I wanted to stay as close as I could with classic editing styles, so I used paint in water techniques to color parts of the film.

I’m elated to share the premier of @zolajesus “The Fall“. After collaborating with Nika for more than a decade, It was an honor to be asked to direct this project which I put my heart and soul into.

When we fall, we have the inner strength to pick ourselves up again. We sometimes have to struggle to find that strength, but it is there within all of us. The journey Nika goes through in the video, including confronting her reflection, removing her mask and the symbolic choreographed dance that follows are my way of expressing that.

I'm so thankful to the incredible crew that worked on this and brought it to life. You each gave it your all and I am so thankful for you!

I’m really happy to finally share the video I made for @bakoliketaco — Reverie is truly a special one for me.

We shot it over two seasons in NYC and Montauk, chasing moments in wild weather. I met Bako and @caiwo_music when we started filming back in November, and in just a few months, we’ve grown so close. Thank you both for trusting me and dreaming with me. Love you guys.

Reverie is a film about longing, memory, and the fluid nature of time when love lingers in the mind. Told in three intertwining layers, it moves between the real, the remembered, and the surreal—each blending into the next like waves pulling the past and present together.

Shot on 16mm, the grain and texture became an extension of the story—imperfect, raw, alive. Light shifts, shadows linger, and movement dissolves like fleeting memories. by @jennihensler

Here are a few of my favorite stills from the High on a rocky ledge video… I think Moondog would have liked the psychedelic colors. I also wanted to step away from the literal meaning of the hiking aspect of the lyrics and instead search for the perfect spiral staircases as they are symbolic of this never ending quest. Thank you to @highlandlighthouse & @oldstatehouseboston

Some words from @cantaloupeny “The album features brilliant new re-imaginings of the music of Louis Hardin, aka Moondog, the blind composer who lived on the streets of Manhattan and became known in the 1960s as “the Viking of Sixth Avenue” for his striking appearance. His music was an inspiration to Philip Glass and Steve Reich, who referred to him as “the godfather of minimalism.”

I’m excited to share a video I made for a song called, “High on a Rocky ledge.” From the forthcoming Moondog tribute album, Songs and Symphoniques: The Music of Moondog. This song is featuring vocals by @marissa_nadler and musical arrangement by @ghosttrainorchestra and @kronos_quartet

The tireless struggle to attain the object of one’s eternal desire makes “High On A Rocky Ledge” about so much more than simply a love for a mountain flower. I shot the video on 16mm film, in several remote locations across the Northeast, in a quest to visually marry this universal longing with a magical figurative interpretation of the lyrics. The dreamlike quality of the film evokes a timeless aura much like the song does. This never-ending quest is personified, as the character, played by Marissa, climbs and climbs, moving constantly forward, upward, and ascending in search of this seemingly unattainable version of herself.

The album features guest vocals by @rufuswainwright , @jarvisbransoncocker , @petrahaden , and @joanaspolicewoman
