The proceeds of purchasing a shirt go to Two Spirit & trans youth and their rites of passage fasting ceremonies and access to Nehiyo health/medical system.

This hoody is handmade on Algonquin territory by Pamela, @diamondphoenixcreations an Anishinaabe mom of a trans kid. She also employs gender and neuro diverse youth on reserve and is kinship with Dr. James Makokis, @creeture82 of Saddle Lake Cree Nation who provides gender affirming care for Two Spirit and trans youth in Treaty 6. Link for shirt options in my bio.

Also, I will be donating to the Saddle Lake Cree Nation Treaty Health Legal Defence Fund to ensure their legal defense and journey ahead with the Alberta government is financially shared among those of us who care about human rights, allyship and reconciliation. Link for their Go Fund Me is in my bio.

I am proud to stand with Saddle Lake Cree Nation. Don’t hold back; stand up for human rights, be an ally, know better, do better, and push the button. Links are in my bio. 🧡❤️ by @jenseguin09

Fighting wildfires isnt just reacting to contain and extinguish the flame once it has sparked. For me, fighting fires begins by making decisions that can slow factors contributing to global warming. It’s choosing other energy sources and saying enough pipelines. It’s taking preventative measures to protect our properties. And most importantly, it’s listening to Indigenous people who have cared for the land since time immemorial.

Deepest compassion and love to the many communities across this land impacted by wildfires this season, particularly Namaygoosisagagun First Nations, White Water Lake First Nations, Eabametoong First Nation and the village of Clinton, BC. by @jenseguin09

Friendship forged in fire. 11 years ago, I met this kindred spirit @secwepemcman as we sat on a bench listening to Eye of the Tiger waiting to complete a portion of our fitness test for BC Wildfire Service. Fast forward 11 years, turns out our picture remaking skills could use some work but it was super special visiting the Manitoba Legislature together where @wabber and team are working hard to make lasting positive impacts for community and giving the rest of the country A LOT of hope during these wild and uncertain worldly times. Today, August 24th, is the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence as a sovereign and autonomous nation. I am proudly 3rd generation Canadian-Ukrainian on my maternal side and am very grateful to live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Ukrainian culture remains fierce and rich. I also recognize the impacts of my ancestors’ immigration to Manitoba in 1899 and how it was made possible through racist policies by the Canadian government that deeply harmed, and continue to harm, Indigenous communities. If you would like to learn more about how the impacts of anti-Indigenous racism are systemically sustained, I encourage you to take the 231 Calls for Justice course offered through the University of Winnipeg. Please DM if you have questions. 📸 @sunnyshphoto taken in Treaty No. 1 by @jenseguin09

Life is short so why not jump into something new like a chess tournament. Even though, I was nervous and lost 4/5 games, I learned a lot, had fun and took up space as an non-binary person within a new community. I only won against a 7 y/o child with 4-move checkmate and then I taught her how to defend herself against it for the future, all the while taking solace and honouring the memory of my dad teaching me how to play chess all those years ago. Overall, a unique experience that I am not sure I’ll try again but I am proud I did something new. I love the universal language of chess♟️ @winnipegchessassociationinc taken in Winnipeg, Manitoba by @jenseguin09

Thinking about my late-dad coming into father’s day weekend. Dad had an eclectic taste and deep love for music. He introduced me to Tracy Chapman, the Tragically Hip, Janis Ian, Pink Floyd and so many more. Privileged for the 37.5 years with my dad, some better than others and ultimately, I am grateful for the moments and lessons that live on. Life is so fleeting, moments happen and then they pass, yet, in many ways, the love that we share always lasts. Thanks to my friend @zac_ironstand who captured my dad in ink on my arm. by @jenseguin09

Grateful to have started Pride month off by spending lunch time at the Manitoba Legislature for the government’s second Pride at the Leg event yesterday hosted by an incredible ally and Minister @nahannifontaine and MCed by her Chief of Staff and my dear friend @alex.krosney. Grateful for these opportunities to connect with community and impactful people like Deputy Premier and Minister Asagwara @uzomachioma who for me, is the first non-binary person I have known in real time and knowing them has been pivotal in my own gender journey. Truly grateful for leadership that deeply values diversity, models what is possible in life for generations to come, and serves as a beacon of hope for the rest of the country in more than one way. Proud to serve my community as a healthcare worker, proud to be Manitoban, proud to be Canadian and proud to be queer and gender diverse through it all. Happy Pride folks 🌈 by @jenseguin09
