I could sit here and pick apart my performance, thinking about all the things I could have done better. But why focus on the what-ifs when there is SO much to be grateful for!

God kept me calm. Kept me safe. Kept me focused. Kept me positive through every high and low. He gave me the wisdom to pace and fuel properly, and by His grace, I got to run down the most magical red carpet in triathlon.

IRONMAN tests you in every way. Physically, mentally, mechanically, nutritionally. And this island delivered everything it’s known for - rough waters, wind in every direction, heat, and humidity.

But through it all, I felt God’s presence. And I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to race here, healthy and strong, alongside the best in the world.

I knew this race would be memorable… I just didn’t know in what way. 🫣✨
Saturday was a day I got to share with so many friends and competitors I’ve had the pleasure of meeting throughout my triathlon journey. We celebrated the good and the hard together, lifting each other up as we passed.

Race day recap:
🏊‍♀️ The swim felt good. Slower times across the board, so I was content with how it went overall.

🚴‍♀️ Just after hopping on the bike, a camera guy stopped in front of a group of us when the road narrowed. In the chaos, I got pushed into a cone and crashed hard on my hip. Bottles scattered, over half my nutrition gone but the bike checked out okay. I stood there for a bit, processing what just happened… fixed the chain… and got back on.

It took about 25 minutes to mentally and physically reset but I did. I rode the rest of the 112 miles strong and steady, holding my lower end target watts and actually enjoyed it.

🏃‍♀️ Stepping off the bike was a different story. No flying dismount (thank goodness). The moment my foot hit the ground, a sharp pain shot through my hip with every step. I cried walking through T2, not sure if my race was over. But I knew I at least had to try.

I walked out and found Steven. He didn’t tell me what to do, just reminded me “If you pull out now, that’s it.” So I walked. And cried. And iced my hip at every aid station.

After a few failed shuffle attempts, around mile 4 I found a jogging rhythm. The jog turned into a run. And that’s when I told myself I’m doing it. I’m finishing this darn race no matter what.

1 mile at a time. Ice at every station. Fueled. And kept moving.

I’ve heard so many stories from others who raced. All hard in their own way. We’ve all overcome so much just to get to the start line. Getting to that finish line was no different.

Grateful for this day. Grateful for this community. And grateful for a race that is both wonderfully brutal and magical. 🌺✨ taken in IRONMAN World Championship by @jensylva

It’s surreal to be here, surrounded by the best of the best in our sport.

The first time I came to Kona in 2018, I had just done my first sprint triathlon. I remember watching these incredible athletes race and being completely blown away by their fitness, dedication, and determination. I admired every single person out there and never imagined I could one day be among them.

And now, here I am for my SECOND World Championship in Kona! 🥹

I don’t take a single bit of this for granted. It’s an absolute honor to stand on this start line, compete alongside athletes I once watched in awe, and soak up every bit of the Kona magic.
