At our practice, we deeply understand the pressures that new mothers face to 'bounce back' quickly after giving birth. Society often places unrealistic expectations on postpartum women, pushing them to regain their pre baby body almost immediately.

However, we believe that the postpartum period should be focused on healing, bonding and adjusting to this new phase of life, not on rapid weight loss. 🙏🏼

While weight loss injections, like those becoming popular in the so called 'Ozempic mummy makeover' trend, may appear to offer a quick fix, they come with significant health risks. These injections can disrupt natural hormone levels, alter blood sugar stability and can cause dehydration, all of which can compromise a mother’s well being during an already vulnerable time.

We advocate for a more balanced approach, encouraging new mums to prioritise their health, take the time they need to recover fully and avoid shortcuts that could endanger their long term health. Our goal is to support mothers in achieving a healthy, sustainable recovery that respects their body’s natural healing process.

I love it when someone comes into clinic with a bag of skincare they’ve been using for approximately 400 years and tells me it doesn’t seem to be working anymore 😂

And actually, there’s a reason for that 🤔

Your skin changes. Hormones change. The things you want to improve change. So sometimes the skincare that was absolutely fine a few years ago just isn’t doing what you need it to do now.

That’s why I like to look at what you’re actually using before I start recommending anything else.

You might not need ten new products. You might just need to change a couple of things.

The glamorous life of an aesthetics nurse 😂

People see the treatments on Instagram, but there’s quite a lot going on in between appointments.

Cleaning, setting up, clinical notes, checking stock, sorting prescriptions, answering messages and occasionally remembering that I haven’t eaten anything. All while I can’t find ANYTHING in my cupboards 🤣

And then we start all over again!

I wouldn’t have it any other way, though. I love my little clinic and the patients who come through the door.

Can we talk about how long filler actually lasts? 👀

Because for years we’ve talked about dermal fillers lasting 6, 9 or 12 months, depending on the product and where it’s been placed.

But we now know that in some people, hyaluronic acid filler can remain detectable for considerably longer.

Which is why I don’t automatically think you need another syringe just because it’s been a year since your last appointment.

I want to know what you’ve already had, where you’ve had it and what your face looks like now.

Sometimes more filler is appropriate. Sometimes it isn’t.

And sometimes the best thing I can do is tell you to leave it alone for a bit. Which isn’t exactly the world’s greatest sales technique. 😂

The unhinged questions I get asked while I’m holding a laser 😂

And actually, they’re all perfectly reasonable questions!

Nobody wants to book a treatment without knowing whether it’s going to hurt, how long they’ll be walking around looking a bit pink or whether they’re going to need six appointments.

The answers depend on what we’re treating, which laser I’m using and your skin.

Some treatments have very little downtime. Others involve a few days of looking like you’ve had a disagreement with the sun.

And yes, occasionally there is a slightly peculiar smell. That’s not necessarily anything to worry about, but I will always explain what to expect before we start!

Fire & Ice. Sounds slightly dramatic for a facial, doesn’t it? 😂🔥🧊

But it’s a lovely treatment if your skin’s looking a bit dull, feeling rough or just needs a good refresh.

The ‘fire’ part is a resurfacing mask designed to exfoliate and improve the appearance of skin texture.

Then comes the ‘ice’, a cooling, soothing mask that feels rather nice after the first one!

It’s a professional treatment rather than just a relaxing facial, and I’ll always check your skin and what you’re currently using at home before deciding whether it’s suitable.

Because as much as I love a good facial, I don’t think everyone should have the same one.

CCR Day 2! ❤️

Another day of wandering around, catching up with everyone, getting distracted by things I wasn’t actually planning to look at and doing an absolutely ridiculous amount of talking. 😂

I do love a conference. There’s always something interesting to learn, people I haven’t seen for ages and conversations that somehow turn into another ten things to add to my to-do list.

And I always come away with new ideas for clinic, which is lovely until I remember I’ve actually got to find the time to do them all!

Two busy days, lots of lovely people and a very full head.

A lovely evening at @roerestaurant in Canary Wharf with @almaukandireland and @exocobioukireland 🖤

Good food, lovely company and, obviously, plenty of chatting about skin, lasers and exosomes. Because apparently we can’t just go out for dinner without talking about work. 😂

It’s always nice to get together with people who are just as interested in the science and developments behind what we’re doing in clinic as they are in the treatments themselves.

And after a busy day at CCR, a gorgeous dinner and a proper catch up was very welcome!
