๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ• โ€ขDaddy when will you be home? โ€ขDaddy will you be home to tuck us in? โ€ขDaddy can you play with me? โ€ขDaddy can you read me a story? Life is fragile. Iโ€™ve been reminded. I love these two but I know their lifeโ€™s experiences arenโ€™t meant to be just for us. I hope that they are kind to everyone they meet. I hope that that learn to love people and show up for them without any conditions. I hope they will continue to have an incredible bond. Raising kids in this climate isnโ€™t easy. Balancing life, work, and making sure youโ€™re raising decent human beings is no easy task. We love you Mazin & Maya for how you two approach life everyday with energy and zest. In our household it was Terps & Hoyas. It was Len Bias | Steve Francis | Terence Morris. One person can make a difference! The First Black Female Interim President in school history Dr. Cheryl Kisunzu โŒ Steve Francis the Takoma Park native that beat the odds and was the blueprint of what was possible for those that came after. These two together will accomplish great things! The Steve Francis Scholarship Fund will help students bridge the gap for education. I canโ€™t wait to hit the ground to help raise funds for this initiative. If weโ€™ve met along lifeโ€™s path & you have connections/network to help please hit me up! ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ Since last Friday Iโ€™ve tried to put into words how Iโ€™m feeling. Prior to the funeral today my heart went out to the Lopez family & Reyes family. Seeing the Lopez family today. Hugging them and letting them know that their son made an impact on all of us. As a parent of a son. That hurt. The service was in Spanish & somehow I was able to understand a little of what was being said. This is what makes Washington Adventist University great. All the countries represented and cultures that are shared. Our choir Pro Musica did such a wonderful job providing music for the celebration of Jeremyโ€™s life. His choir mates & classmates sang through tears and hurt. Anwar Ottley is a blessing to our university as he prepped the choir to sing for the funeral. The last 7 days has been eye opening for me. I appreciate this community and how we came together in time of need. God has me right where he wants me and I wouldnโ€™t want to be anywhere else. Michelle & Jeremy you two were loved & you wonโ€™t be forgotten. Iโ€™m thankful for all the interactions Iโ€™ve had with them. Rest. Coach Lyons by @jeredlyons

Washington Adventist Womenโ€™s Basketball HC Jered Lyons is the newest member of our Eurobasket Coaching Fam! Coach Lyons is going to be at the helm of the East Coast NAIA Team that will feature players from his Continental Athletic Conference, the Appalachian Athletic Conference, and the Southern States Conference traveling to Portugal for a 4 game tour against the professional teams! Dr. Hal founded Bronx Health Opportunities Partnership a program dedicated to supporting students from underserved backgrounds in pursuing careers in healthcare. Chynna is a 5th year MSTP (Medical Science Training Program) it allows students to become physician-scientists ๐Ÿคฏ It combines medical school and graduate research training. No easy task! We are beyond proud of what @chynna__town is accomplishing! Keep going Chynna! Our @wauwbb has two individuals that want to go into the medical field! They can see whatโ€™s possible from our program! by @jeredlyons

๐†๐ซ๐ž๐ฐ ๐“๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ We all grew up together! Who would imagine that a former player would have twins before you. Delaina is an amazing mother. We celebrated the twins 10th birthday this past weekend. 10 years we could write a memoir! The early years was truly a village. I watched team members help with babysitting, feeding times, car rides, and just overall genuine support! I walked over from my desk to the hospital the day they were born! Youโ€™ve never missed a beat! Iโ€™ve seen strangers become sisters @piazzaemily. Players become family. As we approach this new year they are reminders of the program we want to keep building (Showing up for those around you). Proud of you @lacidelaina & thank you for all that youโ€™ve done for Shari & I! All the clothes youโ€™ve given us over the years and creative ideas/places to go. I just canโ€™t believe that they are 10! Twin parenting isnโ€™t easy & the boys are just great kids! You should be proud of yourself. We are proud of you! We are blessed! We felt appreciated & I know the players did as well! We are making history! The Media Team was incredible! Blown away by the level of details, creativity & coverage. Coaches and players alike will be able to walk away with images/videos that will last a lifetime. Thank You! The connections formed between players & coaches was special. Itโ€™s what we all needed after a long year. To be around like minded individuals desiring the same outcome for these student-athletes! More posts to come on the weekend! We have to pay homage to some of the Adventist Athletes that came before. Courtney Jenkins @youngcourt__ & Amber Morman @amber_morman would certainly have been a part of this weekend! Both Courtney & Amber were four year members of the squad. We were blessed to have them both! Courtney is from Philadelphia & Amber is from Tennessee. Courtney is a Teacher with several years under her belt at LA Adventist Academy in California. She graduated from WAU in 18โ€™ This upcoming year she will be a teacher in her home city of Philadelphia. (If you want to donate to her classroom please DM her directly) Amber graduated from WAU as a business major and has been working for @adventhealth since graduating (22โ€™). Courtney was instrumental as we looked to bring in 6โ€™3 Amber Morman who was a generational talent! Last year we had the opportunity to recruit 2025 Adventist Hoops All-American @calliegenece who is from North Carolina and very similar to Courtney & Amber played in the public school system while honoring their faith! As the leader of this program I too identify with Courtney, Amber, & Callie. I went to a HS where I was able to honor the Sabbath and play at a high level. We are examples that you can honor your faith, play at a high level, and be successful! 8 consecutive winning seasons, several semifinals appearances, weโ€™ve had the opportunity to travel Godโ€™s creation. Weโ€™re proud that we can be a viable option to Adventist Athletes. This weekend is for Adventist Athletes & to show the world we see them and most importantly GOD sees them too! Thank you @adventisthoops @coachdustincomm for having a vision and keeping this event going. I know the event just started but we have to pay homage to those that came before.
