A Moment Of Gratitude: To the man who loves, Brooklyn, His Craft, and Basketball. I remember when I heard he was in town filming, I was so excited. Already a β€œ#Crooklyn” and β€œ#SchoolDaze” fan, I only was a child but I loved acting and felt overly ambitious and proud to admit that I wanted a part in his movie, β€œHe Got Game”. Quickly, I ran home and told both my parents, and then I went and mentioned it to him and his siblings as soon as I found them that same day. Yes, I sure did. I had my friends and siblings come with me. His sister, Joie got me right in rotation to get my headshot done by that afternoon. Right there, I learned what it was to go for what you want, the importance of not being afraid to ask questions, hard work, and how when you do what you love, you don’t look at it the same as anything else. They casted, me, my twin, an older sister, and a little cousin. We did good too. _____ Acting is not as easy as some of you may think but when you do what you love, it doesn’t matter. They told me that at the time, it had cost him about a $1,000 a film reel, and why it’s important that actors give it their best. I remember thinking, β€œWOW! That’s a lot.” 🎞 =πŸ’° Another time, he was alone at a desk on a sidewalk, I think he was filming, while me and my twin sister were waiting for the bus, I waved at him and he called me over. I didn’t expect that. He was like, β€œYeah, you.” As I started walking to him, a bodyguard stepped in front of me. Spike wasted no time checking him about it and told him to let me through. I remember that because I low-key felt special. ✨ He asked me how I was feeling that morning and started talking to me about acting, directing and importance of school. Spike is a good dude. I went to school and told my friends. A few years later, while me and my twin sister were attending a basketball game at Abraham Lincoln, guess who I see walking up with a friend? I got them in a quiet side door entrance, as a token of my gratitude. I can never put into words how much he and his family did for me and mine that day, because they didn’t have to. His sister telling us, on set about production equipment and how acting is fun but not always easy, and my first time meeting Denzel! TUH! πŸ™ŒπŸ½βœ¨ That’s crazy! βœ¨πŸ§˜πŸΎβ€β™€οΈβœ¨ β€”β€”β€” These past three months, I’ve had the best streak of luck I’ve ever had in my entire life. I am a firm believer of Universal Law, and that when so many blessings come your way, you must pay back that favor as a sign of the utmost gratitude and respect. πŸ™πŸ½ Everyone that has come into contact with me in these last few weeks know exactly what I’m talking about and has benefitted just by being in my space. I strongly believe that once you put something out there, it’s out there and it comes right back in multitudes. That said, I wanted to pray for whoever sees this.
