We took our sweet time, but we’re finally engaged! For our 9th anniversary, @crispylotus and I went out to Times Square to celebrate. For this anniversary, I didnt want to just celebrate the past, but embrace the future. I thought I’d also make it the day I make things official and propose to Charlie proper. I decided to do it in Times Square (at 9 PM on our 9th anniversary. 9 being Charlie’s favorite number lol), in the midst of all the lights and sounds just to remind Charlie that they are my everything and that despite all the distractions and changes going on in my life, that the one constant is that I will always love them with everything I have. I wanna thank Charlie for being so patient with me and for (thankfully) saying “yes” and for always being both my safehaven and my best friend for 9+ years. Thank you to both of our families for being so supportive and loving. Thank you also to my friends for being so loving and accepting of Charlie and I. I cant wait to continue celebrating this amazing ocassion with you all. Its great to know that even after almost a decade, you can still get butterflies in your stomach from love. I love you, Charlie. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. Its all love here. Lovelovelovelovelove. 💍🫶🏼❤️ taken in Times Square, New York City by @jermrr99

My heart skipped a beat when I got a request from the amazing @jer.band to share the video of them playing their song “Silence Is Violence” live for the first time and I was luckily able to find it within the mountains of recorded 3DS concert videos on my hard drive. This was during one of the Jeff Rosenstock shows during his residency at Warsaw in Brooklyn back in 2024, which JER was the opener for that day. I wanna quick shout out JER (and We Are The Union, by extension) for being one of the best ska punk bands around and for this song, “Silence Is Violence”, along with the rest of their work for being a solace for me and many other during this tumultuous time and political climate. I do not record on my 3DS for exposure like this really, but I am always happy to see a band recognize 3DS and other abstract camera footage as legitimate. Because it should be treated as such imo, and its fun, so go out and do it if you have one. For any band interested in getting their own footage from 3DS, PSP, or Gameboy Camera, please feel free to reach out and I’ll be more than happy to share. Thank you again to JER and to everyone who has supported this stupid thing I’ve been doing for years now 🫶🏼

Just had to come by @round1usa for their Persona 30th anniversary collab. I love every game in the series, but I wanna shoutout Persona 1&2 getting so much love during this run. Even got myself a Naoya and Tatsuya plush after a few tries. There really is just something here for every fan of every game, unless youre a fan of Persona 5X lmao. Cant wait to see what other collabs they do, but this one was a real highlight for me. Shoutouts to @atlus_west for giving us 30 years of the best JRPG series of all time.

“It’s a matter of time before I get high
And end up on a plane going to Shanghai in the morning. Paradise awaits, but I always find myself looking for an escape. Tired of wine and the endless nights. I’d rather cross my heart and hope to die, but you’re calling, and ever since that day
I’ve been looking at the heavens, shouting your name
[…] Pick up the phone and realize
I wanted more than your disguise
It’s gruesome, oh, my love, the way you left me in a moment. Tragedy, a felony, you never seemed to notice. You blew the scene and made me blind.
I’m on the floor, spaced out of my mind”

To end off September, Concert 371 was at @warsawconcerts and the show featured INOHA headlining, with @capitalsoiree and @pretoriamusic opening. Before anything, I wanna shoutout the GOATs at @evvntly for the free tickets to the show. They really do come in clutch. Not a paid promotion, just a fan, and I am gonna be thanking them a ton more during this month alone, so shoutouts to them. To speak on the openers for a second, Pretoria was great, I’m a new listener but another great new indie band along with their kin, and Capital Soiree was more dream pop / shoegaze / soft grunge mixed with indie and it was euphoric live. I was put in a trance and though the music was new to me, I was already singing and learning the choruses. Amazing band. Same can be said for headliner, INOHA, who are alot like Good Kid with their more laidback, pop punk-ish adjacent flavor of indie and all their songs are just total earworms, especially their first album ALOHA INOHA. Even so, they were even better live, especially with the right crowd, as every song felt huge & Im glad I got to be a part of it. There were alot of great shows today and though I do feel that FOMO, going here was still a great, fun time and I am just grateful to be going to shows and getting so much support. Ive said alot about that in alot of posts as of late, but it should be said. Thanks to all involved, especially my fellow Pinoy @keanudonut after the set. Love his art and especially his existence & representation. Much love ✌🏼🫶🏼🇵🇭

I just wanna quick thank the GOATs at @8bit_breakdowns for sending out this lovely package personalized with these floppy discs containing some of my favorite videos from them and some merch with it. This was very cool of them to do and I think its such a unique and fun thing, in the same spirit as recording with a game console and both are DIY as fuck too, so I got alot of respect for them.

Theres alot of love that goes into their videos, especially the WWF No Mercy vids where they create their own wrestler for each band they feature. Thats how I first found them. For me though, I thought the funniest ones on here were @bigassmftruck with Bigfoot on NES, @angeldustmoney with Space Jam for PS1, and @pigdestroyerofficial with Oink! on Atari 2600. One that was real close was Crown Of Thornz with their song “Juggernaut” on Marvel vs Capcom 2. Thats just a few examples. There were just so many bangers that it was hard to limit my choices. Btw all footage in the other slides belong to 8 Bit Breakdowns.

So, again, thank you to the dudes at 8 Bit Breakdowns. I love their content and so do alot of the bands they feature, so I cant wait to see what else theyll have in store for the future. Not paid for this btw, just a fan of hardcore and retro gaming. I do recommend though that you should follow these dudes if you havent, especially if you are in the hardcore scene, wrestling, and retro gaming niche, because its honestly some of the most based and funniest shit youll ever see.

Lastly, I will be getting myself a Floppy Disk to USB adapter soon where I will get these to play. I was told to use it as a coaster but Id kinda feel bad about it lmao. So, this will be a two-parter. Look forward to that video in the future. Til then, take care. ✌🏼🫶🏼

“消失的光影藏在手套里从未离去
彩色的外衣灰色的身体从未苏醒
穿越了乌云找不到谜底 继续
迷失在绿茵迷失在森林从未逃离
找到了谜底找不到意义 继续
怀疑你的球衣哪一个是贝利
怀疑我的怀疑 哪一个是悖理
伸不开的手臂 剩下的是背影
离不开的禁区 直到弃门而去”*

*(The disappearing lights and shadows are hidden in the gloves and have never been away. The colorful coat and the grey body have never been awake. Through the dark clouds I can’t find the answer, go on. Never fled, lost on the pitch and lost in the trees. I found the answer but not the meaning, go on. Suspecting your jersey, which one is Pele? Suspecting my suspects, which one is a paradox?

Concert 370 was seeing one of my favorite midwest emo bands, who are from China, aptly named Chinese Football, which is the greatest parody name ever. Could almost be a tribute band, but instead they deliver some of the best, tightest, most blissful and beautiful blend of midwest emo, math rock, and indie rock to ever grace the world really. I saw them live at @lprnyc , along with @floraltheband , who showed off so many cool instrumental songs with complex riffage and the legends in @michaelcerapalin , who finally played a night show in Manhattan and were as fun as I thought they would be. I quite literally braved the storm in order to go see this show and I’m glad I did as it was a great time, and their music is always just so calming and a perfect soundtrack for a rainy day in the Fall. I felt it hearing their songs on the bus ride to the venue and I felt it even moreso hearing it live, but less lonely, as there were so many people there for them. Lots of Asian people, of all kinds too. That unity through music is a treasure and I’m so glad I experienced it last night and I was rrally close to not going, so its great not having that FOMO on top of that lmao. I wanna thank LPR’s staff & crew, all the great bands & their teams, & the fellow fans who helped make this special, as always. I have such an undying love for live music & shows like this really prove that. Love eachother & take care 🫶🏼

Its not her death anniversary yet, but whenever I come back to my parent’s house, I see Becky’s stupid silly lil photo in the kitchen. It gets me thinking and that thinking gets me writing. I think about Becky everyday, but I got inspired to write after sitting with this photo for a bit. For context, I put that photo up sometime after she passed and told my parents to not move her, no matter how much the kitchen had gotten renovated within the past few years. Everyone asks why and its just kinda my way of immortalizing her. I would wake up in the morning to go to school or work and she would be there waiting to see me. I think I miss those mundane days the most because I would just be happy to exist alongside her in this mundane life of ours. Ive greeted and said goodbye to her everytime I saw her and left for the day. It was the same when I was still living with my parents. Now that I’m not living there anymore, its been such a weird experience not greeting her everyday anymore. I wanna cry walking past this stupid little picture nowadays, and Becky being there as a constant reminder that grieving is not a linear process and that its okay to have those moments where youre fine and others when you want to break down. The thing that stays constant is that I miss her always and that life goes on. I’ll keep moving forward in my life and I’ll continue to celebrate Becky, even if its little, stupid, silly ways like this. Love you, buddy. See you when I see you. The most comforting part of mortality is that I get to be with you again one day. by @jermrr99

Concert 369 was a bit of a sudden one. Lambrini Girls announced around last week that they were having a special free show brought to us by the amazing people at @showbrain_ and it was just something I had to go to. They revealed on the same day that it would take place in Herbert Von King Park Ampitheater and this was just such a great punk show. A part of me was sad that I was missing both Bikini Kill AND CBGBs Fest this year, but this show kinda made up for it and it knocked another great band off of my list. I always have such respect for women and queers in punk, specifically the riot grrl and queercore movements and Lambrini Girls have been the face of modern riot grrrl and queercore, just not giving any fucks, and playing louder and faster than the old guard, while also being very experimental in their sound. They are also as unapologetically ferorcious live & they have such great crowd control. Bikini Kill would be proud. I also just wanna give a special shoutout to free and low income shows in general, tbh times are tough rn, but these keep me going in such a big way. In perspective, 15 shows this year so far have been $20 or under, and that really helps me so huge shoutout to them for the care. This also counts contests & friends who have given me tickets. Ty and love you all. Either way, I had such a great time at the show and wanna shoutout all the friends, both old and new, especially in the photography scene and all the people in local punk bands doing their part along with Lambrini Girls in keeping the scene alive and well. Shoutouts to Show Brain’s crew, staff, team, & volunteers for putting this on. I also wanna thank the wonderful @phoebelunny and @franksredhotbuffalosauce of Lambrini Girls for the amazing show and for the photos! Til the next one ✌🏼🤘🏼

Quick lil social media mental health post, if you dont mind. As I’ve spent around like 12ish years on Instagram, 9 years on this account, I have met tons of people I am lucky enough to call friends, have been able to document so many memories in real time, and have had many doors open up to me because of it. Social media in itself is my day-to-day, its how I stay “in the know”, its how I keep up with my friends. Its also true that its admittedly become harder to determine who is actually there for you and who are just using you, not even for any kinda gain, but just emotionally sending you mixed messages. Those likes and other interactions really can fuck with your sense of self. Tbh I still have had times where I have weighed my worth in social media interactions and stuff. I have found alot of belonging in community, whether finding it in reconnecting with old friends, music, gaming / anime, memes, sexuality, politics, culture, and more. As fulfilling as it is, it can be exhausting dealing with the impostor syndrome brought about, while still having to show up for those same people. I already deal with that anxiety irl as is. And thats just been a constant, despite the everchanging landscape of the Internet. I have been working towards a healthier balance of not expecting every aspect of social media to be the same irl. I have been doing my best in providing my fully authentic self, but there are always outliers and moments of ignorance that lead to rejection. I think chasing after that constant approval from others is exhausting, and I’ve learned that its okay if people dont like me or dont agree with everything I do or say. This has been a lifelong lesson that I will continue to delve into, but I’m making this bc its something I’ve reflected on and wanted to share since the growth has been amazing. I appreciate it, but it has opened my eyes a ton, to the blessings and the curses, but those blessings really keep me going despite it all. Have some self compassion. Tldr; your own self is your best self, and your real people will be attracted to your realness. Thats all. Take care ✌🏼
