Multiple color swatches and fabric samples, four patterns before the bottom fit perfectly, and two rose sleeve patterns—only to remove the sleeve completely two nights before the pageant!

The creative process is full of trial and error, adjustments, and unexpected changes. Sometimes, what you envisioned in the beginning looks completely different in the end.

I super happy how it turn out.

Yes my dining room table became an extension of our craftroom for a 2nd time this year. 😀

The first time, was my first ever fashion show.
The second, me creating and making some outfits, including my gown, for the Ms. Full-Figured NC Pageant.

There were a lot of new techniques and first time experiences with both the fashion show and Pageant. I am truly proud for challenging myself and trying new things.

The look that won me Ms. Exquisite Full-Figured NC Urban Glam

Top: This was a rework from the top used in my winning Covergirl photo. Total time to make top 12+ hours. To rework it, an additional 2+ hours.
Braids provided by @christian_chanel_ and hand sewn on the bodice by me. I hand sewn in the word "Grow" on the bodice.

Skirt/arm wrap: I upcycled 6 jersey tops and upcycled a satin outfit I only wore once. The skirt took about 10+ hours to complete.

Every photoshoot I plan has a story, a purpose.
The story behind my winning Ms. Exquisite Full-Figured Covergirl photo....

The hand braided and hand sewn on corset tells a story of growth (I even spelled out GROW). Each braid represents the different paths of my journey woven together. Each one may bend or come undone, but when together, they are stronger.

The grass reminds me to stay grounded in my growth. No matter how much my life changes, my roots matter. Growth isn’t only about reaching upward, it’s also about staying rooted in who I am.

The statue by Gyre Thomas Sayre represents strength. Solid. Weathered. Still standing. I lean against it, but I also mirror it. I have been shaped by what I’ve experienced, but I have not been destroyed by it.

I am growing. I am grounded.
And just like nature, I’m learning that every season has a purpose.

Pour into You
Will be a morning of healing, wellness, and self-care as we nurture the mind, body, and spirit.

The mission is to create a safe, welcoming space where women (this includes teens) can pause, reconnect with themselves, and discover meaningful ways to nurture their mind, body, and spirit.

The goal is to provide this experience free of charge to approximately 45 women, giving each participant intentional time and space to pour back into herself —it is necessary.

So, if you know a business, please tag them. If you are a business and would like offer your services, please let me know.

A little girl looking into the mirror, not yet knowing all that life would bring—or the woman she would become. Through every season, I kept going, kept growing, and kept finding a way back to myself

Now, I look back with gratitude. The crown is beautiful, but the real win is becoming the woman that little Nikki would be proud of.
