My girl LaPrea sold a record number of paintings at her solo show so the venue extended her show and it needed a refresh! Today, we went back to the Openshaw Gallery (3rd Floor) @ Maryland Hall to re-hang her show with 8 new paintings for the next several weeks. So proud and excited for her! Stop by to show your support!

So much celebrating this week!! First, dressing up for the arts, then Kelley’s birthday, then the McLean Art Gallery opening reception (where I sold two paintings!), then out to the theater, and Cynthia’s birthday celebrations too! I’m so lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life!!

Honored to be the guest curator at Maryland Hall’s Earl Gallery for an awesome student show, Roots and Wings, put together by the students and faculty at New Village Academy in Annapolis, MD. More than 100 stories were collected from elders in their communities, plus a photo taken, and it was my job to help pull it all together (with a fabulous team) for a meaningful display and storytelling show. The reception was last night but the show’s up until the beginning of November. Worthwhile reading/viewing!!

A former Walgreens has been transformed into a vibrant place for art, ideas, and community!

This fall, the Arlington Artists Alliance is bringing together more than 40 local artists for The ARTS Place Pop-Up on Langston. I’m thrilled to be part of this special project, where visitors can experience original artwork, meet local artists, and share in Arlington’s creative spirit.

Celebrate the opening with us tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5–7 PM, at 3130 Langston Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201. Visit throughout the seven-weekend run, September 11–October 25 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 12-6pm each day.

More preview shots from this past week. Named my space and started to get everything set in its place. The tape marks are how I’ve designated the paintings’ locations…20 installed so far. The Arlington Artists Alliance’s ‘The Arts Place Pop-up’ opens next week on Thursday, September 10! Please join me and 40+ other artists from 5-7pm for the grand opening reception. Then it’ll be open every weekend Friday-Sunday, 12-6pm, until October 25. Mark your calendars!
