I completed this piece minutes before the Russian invasion in Ukraine. This is a representation of the River Dniper from my memory and peaceful my beautiful Ukraine….

No, I didn’t have a gut feeling before the war started, I still can’t believe it did. I am still in shock.

I cannot wait for the day of Victory for Ukraine 🇺🇦Slava UkraiЇni and to all my brave amazing people, my heart is with all of you ♥️ taken in Camp Washington by @jessaminestreetstudios

Something about this craft paper is always so captivating. It holds the shape of the thing it was covering, while slouching under the inevitable weight of gravity. It’s monochromatic, yet absorbs and reflects so much color from its surroundings. It’s the remnant, the thing left behind, what we choose to no longer see.

This is a painting I’ve been returning to in the background for a while now. It is layered with allegorical and symbolic elements, but I sometimes feel it is best not to over explain these things. As Edward Hopper said, “If I could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint”.

I’m so excited to announce that I am now represented by @sugarlift ! Additionally, my painting “Hotel Soap” received an honorable mention for the Blue Review Art Prize. It is an honor to be showing among some of my favorite artists and to be included in a gallery that I’ve admired for years. If you haven’t seen their new Manhattan location, they’re at 508 W 28th Street directly under the High Line! Go check out the show which is up until December 31st.
