A little over a year ago, I found out I was pregnant.

Today, our son turns 4 months old.

So much has changed in my family’s life in the last year. We have known joy, fear, anxiety, new diagnoses, terror, relief, extraordinary resilience, great love and tremendous gratitude. I have spent a full year not making in the way I know best, and instead, making in a new (new to me, ancient to humanity) kind of way.

12. I was working and teaching until I couldn’t anymore (thank goodness for @jonathangibsonphotography for taking over my class on the perfect day!)
13-15. Many thanks to @selizasphotography for helping me see how beautiful I was in that last month.
16. Our little guy came home with us after a smooth labor and delivery at the end of November.
17. And in December, we faced more and different challenges. Spaces in between, domestic moments, memories of the mundane and spatial relationships of the home feel strangely both pivotal and useless.

It’s hard to believe how much my life has changed in one year. And how much our country and world have endured in such a short time.

And yet. Our baby is four months old. He is happy, he is healthy. Our hearts have been heavy, but they are full. by @kcolborn

Very grateful to share that my show “Minding the Gap” is now up in the Kassab Gallery at @francismarionu. I’ll be in town as a visiting artist on March 21 and 22 to give a gallery talk, present a lecture, and meet with faculty, students, and the school community. Much thanks to @jesslwillis for the gallery prep and to the ever hard-working @brittanyrgilbert_artist for the effort to make this happen for me and all her students! ✨

I am tremendously grateful to finally show work alongside a dear friend whose work (and character) I’ve admired for many years (@samantha.haring) as well as the very talented @kelleybooze. I feel very lucky to see our work in the same space, sharing beautiful conversation. Thanks much to the wonderful @caseydressell for bringing us together and making it possible!

A few updates to the website to wrap up this year.

For me, this has been a year of joys and change and travel and media-intake-overwhelm, and admittedly, some creative stagnation. Looking ahead and making the way through by finding little sparkles of hope and tenderness and sadness and thoughtfulness. Holding tight to friendships and curiosities. Preparing for a couple of shows in the new year. by @kcolborn

Thank you SO much to all of you who came out to view this exhibition at @westonartgallery last night. I’m still reeling from the packed house, and am tremendously grateful to the gallery for letting visitors continue to enjoy the shows a full 45 minutes after closing! If you were there and I missed a chance to say hello, I’m so sorry, but from the bottom of my heart— thank you for coming to see and celebrate all this work. TOMORROW, Friday, Jan 20, from 6-8 pm is the opening reception for my exhibition “Sheltering in Smoke” at the @westonartgallery! This work is a few years in the making, but even if you don’t care about the paintings, you should really check out the walls and arches they built for it because they are stunning in their own right. Not to mention, you should check out the other opening exhibitions by @joshuapenrose and @emiljrobinson—some truly brilliant artists whose work you will not want to miss. This painting was completed this past summer at @vermontstudiocenter and I’m excited to include it in my upcoming show at the @westonartgallery.
