What I Want by Izzy Oram Brown is out today - 62626 !

Over the course of basically exactly a year, Izzy & I - with help from @connors.park @maddybaltor @skinnypicss @sam.talmadge @zubinhensler & @joelambertmastering -
embarked on a journey of excavating desire! We started with one song and developed a dream to create something exciting & ambitious that we couldn’t exactly picture until it revealed itself through trust & deep listening.

We explored so many in-between spaces- making a point to identify which elements are Heaven & which are Earth, embracing what is surely science & what feels like magic, always asking what we want & what we don’t. We tried to make Normal Good sounds & Abnormal Bad sounds, and tried to avoid sounds that land in that specific in-between.

“What do I want?” is sometimes the hardest question to answer without actively & earnestly witnessing oneself, and Izzy courageously covers all the want-related in-betweens in 37 minutes.

If I ever run for office some day, I am conscribing IOB to write my speeches. If you haven’t heard an IOB speech, go to your nearest IOB show, which I Believe is August 2nd at Nightclub 101 in New York City. In the meantime, buy the tape & the digital album, and spread the IOB gospel.

Thank you Izzy for your trust & your wholeheartedness, and thank you for sharing your music with the world! by @jesse_in_grey

I’ve been a fan of this guy since we met as 18 year old kids in lower Manhattan. He played a telecaster and had a sensibility both in his person and his playing that resonated with me as an indie kid (poorly) masking through jazz school.

Since then I’ve watched his craft and his career blossom alongside our friendship, and I was honored and a little bit surprised to get the call to produce his next EP with him. I got over that imposter syndrome, listened to some beautiful demos, and we booked some dates at my studio Skymall in Sunset Park with drummer and sweetie extraordinaire Connor Parks.

I only took a few photos/videos of the experience, and they are included above. This process taught me so much about listening, choice, the guitar, The Song, communication, sadness and its expression, friendship, play, trust, and community. We just played a release show last week and it was remarkable how much life has shifted since we made these songs, and even if their beauty comes from processing hardship, I’m so glad they were written, sculpted, and now relinquished. Sometimes sad and angry songs have to move to make room for life’s lighter lessons. I’m honored to have played a part in the making of this record. Congrats on a phenomenal EP, Mike.

Thanks to everyone who contributed their gifts:

Zaddy Songlegs Compilation Vol. 2 is out today!

In 2025, dozens of musicians set out to write and record a song every week and offer it up for listening and feedback from the community. After 52 weeks we amassed 609 songs from 58 different participants, and wrote 3010 comments on each others’ work

Now 33 of us have decided to share one song each from this process, all on a compilation for purchase on @bandcamp

100% of the proceeds will be donated to @solitary_watch , a non-profit committed to documenting, exposing & reforming the unchecked & inhumane practices of the prison system in the United States. Recently they have been actively reporting on the undocumented abuse in ICE detention centers

Each track was written and recorded in one short burst and was not revisited or reworked before this publication

Thank you to all the artists, of which there are too many to tag here, for sharing your vulnerability. This is truly a work of abundant togetherness

This time last year @dorajar_ and @joan.trip and I set out on a wild European adventure where we saw countless indoor starscapes, and I didn’t make any mention of it here. Better late than never, I guess. Here are some pics shot by @danikm and @ddddiogo of us radicalizing the European youth one arena at a time. Feeling grateful to have had that experience, and happy to share <3 by @jesse_in_grey
