Aisha has inspired me for years. When I saw her masterclass in Oakland, my soul told me to just GO, cause it's now or never! I learned so much from her, it was beautiful reconnecting with my old peers& teachers and making new connections 🫂. Being called out for a solo was crazy and still feels like a fever dream🙏🏻

Thank you @thegalenhooksmethod for the guidance to go after the story, and trust that my body/training will help me take it there.

I loved completely letting go of the need to "look good" and fully embracing "being."

This particular piece also sparked some personal redefinition about sensuality, beyond sexual, and how you can embody it in so many other forms.

I'm grateful for all the amazing creatives in the room with me that weekend. Thank you for inspiring me with your courage and honesty through this wild, beautiful language we share called dance.

3 years since I first stepped in @ki0nna 's heels series at @fulloutstudios and rekindled my love for dance again. @ki0nna your class all the way out here in Seattle felt like a home away from home. I was WORKING and SWEATING but my soul was at ease ❤️ Thank you for these last few years. I learned this piece two years ago while I was still shaking in my boots and it was beautiful to revisit and reinterpret it.

To the beautiful powerful dancers in the room, I really loved sharing this space w you and have spent much time creeping through footage 😍🫣 This was a piece with so much room for interp...and I loved seeing everyone's takes.

@thechange_frequency where do I begin. Ma'am this was YOUR bday event and you chose to bring and share this experience and make it about everyone, in addition to every other event that you've planned for the heels community and sensual movers here. Wow. You are very very loved and appreciated by so many of us. And I can't wait to plot more with you 😘 Thank you.

@korrze @tonylikestodance your ability to capture people in their essence is next to none, in this class and for other teachers. Your care shows. And it's not easy carrying heavy equipment for hours in that hot room. Everyone has a different relationship with content but speaking for myself - Having records (in HD too??!), being able to SEE myself move, here and now while able bodied, is an incredible privilege that I do not take for granted and has helped me heal in my relationship to my body and self. This is our BGC Dance directors team. We laugh way too hard, take the dancing seriously, and genuinely have the best time doing this together.

Thank you to everyone who came out for auditions this season. Every single person who showed up ready to move, to learn, to be seen, you made this audition season one to remember. This community is built by you as much as it's built by us.

BGC director highlight @jessgoesdancing 💙✨

Congratulations on your second season directing BGC Dance Expression!

"I learned to trust even more deeply into my creative vision, and to not be afraid to go after the vision even if I didn’t know how to do everything just yet. I was so moved by classes I took in Afro-Cuban and Dominican Palo that I wanted to dive straight into these styles with this season’s piece and continue to build on my training. Once Becca and I found the songs, we were so inspired. This was my first time not only choreographing in these styles, but also with a prop. To make our lives even easier, I insisted on a removable skirt, and lots of trial and error were involved with figuring out how to make that work for everybody, and lots of sacrifices mainly involving velcro, needles, and Becca’s thumb (sorry!)

At the same time, I had been focusing on heels styles for the past several years. However, a toe injury forced me off heels for months and prompted me to reinvent who I was as a dancer without the shoe. Returning to bare feet with my team this past season - the first time I’ve consistently done so since doing Bhangra in college - was heartening and grounding, and I am so grateful to have had an amazing group of students to take part in this exploration with me, in their own beautiful versions of growth."

Your creativity, vision, and willingness to ride to new challenges make you an incredible artist and leader. Thank you for making BGC possible ❤️

First time EVER in 8inches. Total thinking mode during this run.
I wanted this on here because it was beautiful to experience floorwork again as a beginner. To figure out my angles, my weight transfers, what technique does and what doesn't transfer over from 4 inches and no platform, and what NEW things I have yet to uncover in a totally different stiletto.

Thank you mama @seattle_heels_weekender for organizing & providing that rare class environment here where you feel so free to try new things with your booty out.

She's back for a second season with functioning, stronger feet! This is the first choreo from @cameronleementorship I felt free to fully go for my vision in a smaller group without getting caught up about missing the next steps. It was a no brainer to transport back to a sunny Oakland living room to this song...🌬️

Round 2 always hits different, but I will get there in Round 1 sometime🙏🏼

Debut weekend, in the books 🖤 We are so grateful and so proud to share this compilation from Expression's first weekend performing together.

The Friends and Family Show, the BGC Dance Showcase & Social, and NW Folklife, three completely different rooms and this team brought their full hearts to every single one. Stepping into a debut piece takes so much courage, and the growth we saw across just one weekend was incredible to witness. Congratulations to this whole team, we could not be prouder of you 🖤

We did two day hikes in Dolomiti - first several slides is a lesser populated hike that ended up going through a mountain pass (~8200ft high) between Piza di Lech and Piza Scotini. Found the highest source of mineral water in Europe according to a UNESCO sign. The last couple are from Tre Cime (the super popular one) and the haunting jagged views of Cadini di Misurina from an offshoot trail. Ending a glimpse of the drive through the park. All the guides and IG influencers tell you to do certain things but you really could not go wrong with any hike in this massive park. I have been spoiled by our own WA trails and it honestly takes a lot to impress nowadays, but this held its own. I feel incredibly lucky to experience a few days here. by @jessgoesdancing
