Short review: intriguing book from a stunning bookshop!

🤖 Klara and the Sun: A great exercise in "show don't tell", the whole book is so cleverly written and is basically us trying to work out what Klara is actually witnessing but her unreliable POV makes everything ambiguous which is fun to experience and I'd definitely say worth a read purely for that reason. However I just really didn't like any of the characters. I thought Josie and Klara would develop this wholesome little bond but it never happened. Hated Chrissie, disliked Melania, was indifferent at best to Rick which all just left a slight air of apathy once I'd finished the book. ☀️

📚 Kemps Books, Malton: I don't want to give away *spoilers* about this shop because there are so many unexpected little details that deserve to be discovered in person but let me just say this - if you're anywhere near Malton, Yorkshire plan a trip to Kemps it's the definition of "Joyful Browsing". 📚 taken in Kemps General Store & Bookshop by @jessiewelsh

Book number 4 for @megsreadingclub was Night Shade by @autumnwoods.author - I don't think we could have picked better for a back-to-school vibe read!
After waiting until being two thirds of the way in before asking @maxine_mallory26 when the vampires reveal themselves (Belladonna and Vincenzo I'm looking at you) I finally realised this was dark academia, not fantasy. Once I stopped waiting for the vampires, I had so much fun reading this made-for-autumn story that I dived headfirst into Day Break (book 2)!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars for the whole duology and for Ophelia and Alex having the best banter I've ever read ♥️

P.S. scroll to the end for one of my favorite book pages ever!!!!! by @jessiewelsh

It's officially Autumn now... Can we please arrange for at least a handful of chilly days in the next couple of weeks?

When you prefer the premise to the actual series but lock in for all 4 books anyway!

Happy "Book Club Day UK"! 📚💕

In July @maxine_mallory26 and myself joined the wonderful @megsreadingclub and I now look forward to our monthly meet ups so much! A really cute new idea that Meg has started as part of this is a little birthday book buying group and I was very lucky to be the birthday girl this month!

16 beautiful books later and I’m feeling very, very spoiled. A huge thank you to everyone who chose a book for me and to Meg's Reading Club for having me.

I can’t wait to read every single one of them! My TBR pile has officially entered another dimension!
