The Great Gatsby isn’t my favorite story, and it wasn’t my favorite musical. I was pleased there was a small tap number. The sets and costumes were fabulous. I would say this one could be a skip unless you really like the Gatsby story. 😬 by @jessmarwe

I have loved Dolly since as long as I can remember.

I loved all her hair, makeup, and sequins. I loved her talent and sense of humor. Most of all, I loved her giving heart. Her daddy couldn’t read, so she made sure underprivileged children would get books so they could. She made sure the people of her hometown had jobs by building Dollywood. If they wanted to go to college, she made sure it was paid for. When the pandemic hit, she donated money to help create a vaccine. She gave back to black communities off of the royalties of Whitney singing her song. The list goes on and on….and that is only what we know about.

It was on my bucket list to see her in concert. In 2019, I was fortunate enough to score a ticket (after over 2 hrs of trying…and swearing I snagged the last one available) to her 50th Opry Anniversary Show. I drove to Nashville…by myself….put on my sequin jacket….jacked my hair to Jesus….put on enough makeup to choke a drag queen….and made that dream come true for myself.

While I have been teary eyed all afternoon, I smile knowing she is reunited with her love, Carl Dean….along with her mommy and daddy. And I’m sure Kenny was there to give her a hug. And Porter was lurking somewhere behind them all.

When I was leaving work….I kid you not….a butterfly came dancing by my car. I take that as a nod from my Dolly….thanking me for being a fan.

My heart is broken….knowing this day would come but not wanting to believe it. Dolly meant so much to me. Beyond her incredible talents, she had the biggest giving heart! I am so fortunate to have seen her perform at her 50th Opry anniversary. I pray her legacy lives on through her charities and music. Remember, you can come from nothing and become something! 🦋 by @jessmarwe

Slow burn…..think Strangers with Candy sprinkled with dysfunction and a fatal disease. That is how I would describe @akimbomusical . I went in blind, not knowing the story or a single song. I can’t say I would rush to see it again, but it was ok. by @jessmarwe

My middle school chorus teachers ruined The Sound of Music for me. I can’t even begin to count the number of times they made us watch it. With that being said, I am glad I saw the live production today. Perfect timing. To be a witness to the @walkforpeace.usa is a humbling experience. The selflessness of the monks is something that will stay in my heart forever. I shed tears and hugged strangers as we stood in awe. To be given flowers by one of the monks was life changing. And my favorite flowers too….daisies! It’s as if he knew I needed a sign. 🌼

I had been watching the live map of the walk all morning. Once they were pretty close, I asked my coworkers if they were cool with me taking an early lunch. My timing was perfect. I could see the police cars down the road as soon as I parked. I was only gone a total of 15 mins. Life changed in 15 mins. by @jessmarwe
