Big news! My painting “Little Blue House” now belongs to the King County Public Art Collection! It started with a little house-shaped bottle I found in an antique store here in Washington. It made me think about homes I’ve had and the space between them, New England where I grew up and WA where I live now, and that feeling became this piece. It was chosen through Here and Now, a call @kc4culture opened earlier this year for portable artworks, something the county hadn’t done directly in almost a decade. I’m incredibly honored to have been selected and grateful the public will get to enjoy the painting. Thank you @kc4culture ! 💙

About 6 hours sped up into 1 minute! This is the underpainting for Stuffed, 16x20", oil on panel, work in progress 🫒

I saw this jar of chili stuffed olives at DeLaurenti in the market and that thought of 'I want to paint that' popped in my head. I initially ignored it because I just painted some olives, but the call was strong. One giant jar of stuffed olives, coming right up! I'm on the second layer of paint now and should be nearly done next week. Stay tuned for more 🫒🫒🫒 Can't wait to eat these instead of staring at them!

Just finished a piece I started in the summer - 'Incan Summer', 8x10", oil on cradled panel. The Lily of the Incas here is a single stem from Pike Place Market, and the blue vessel is an antique mall find. It's a bit tricky to see here, but I liked how the wave form of the vessel has 6 'leaves' just like the flowers have 6 petals. And I liked the colors together too. @pikeplacepublicmarket

Photos from Rome last week with my husband, celebrating our 10 year anniversary, and our neighbor friends @pardonourfrenchlife . Took a much needed break from my various design jobs and social media & am feeling more alive and inspired again!

Pics are mostly from the Mausoleum of Santa Costanza, churches full of Berninis and Caravaggios, The fountain of the artists, the hall of maps at the Vatican, Galleria Borghese, the Colosseum, the Roman forum, and the church of St Mary Major. by @jesswe.art

Lucky Cat, 16x16”, oil on cradle panel, Sept 2026 😸

This piece came together slowly as the objects and flowers appeared in my life. I went to a cat cafe here in Seattle as I sometimes do when I’m missing my cat who passed away. I saw this cute little carved rock kitty in the gift shop on my way out & it made me smile. I brought it home and it sat on my office desk for months; I had no intention of ever painting it.

The purple glass vase was later found while browsing a local antique mall. I had picked out the yellow coreopsis flowers at the beginning of this summer to plant in one of my roof deck containers. The flowers and the vase came together first, with their nicely contrasting colors. It seemed like my still life was missing something just posing those in the sun for a still life. Then I looked over at my desk and saw the stone cat smiling at me.

Coming right up! I'm putting the finishing touches on a new painting and will share later this week. Here’s part of it - how cute is this stone cat I found at a cat cafe holding a coreopsis flower I grew?

‘A Little Tart, A Lot Of Heart’, oil on panel, 20x24”, just finished 🍋💕

Showing the main 3 layers of paint here since I had a few people ask me how my glass looks so glassy. There are 3-5 layers of transparent oil paint that you look through when you see my work in real life. The green pitcher has 5 layers of paint.

The objects and ideas in this piece came together through the collective- found the green pitcher at an antique store with @unbreevesable , @elisa_yip inspired me to drink lemon water in the morning, my husband can’t be tagged on the small glass I found in our kitchen, and the sunglasses were party swag from @scobot . All the parts became a still life one sunny morning on my roof deck when the sun hit just right.
🌞
Happy summer everyone!! Enjoy!

Trying new techniques in oils! Got a little too detailed in the greyscale layer so I know what I'll do differently next time. And I'm going to repaint the sky entirely. The first color layer is done & drying on the easel if you want to come check it out along with some other new works at Open Studios this Sunday @inscapearts @friends_of_inscape 🍋💚

Appearing, 20 x 16”, oil on panel, spring 2026 (Shown low res here)

My friend Brooke @unbreevesable was visiting WA for the holidays back in December. We met up in Enumclaw to have lunch and shop with some friends. There is an antique store there that I wanted to go look for subjects to paint in, so I explained how my initial process works when waiting for an object to get my attention. As we were having a look around, nothing was grabbing me despite there being many gorgeous old things. Brooke called from around a corner. She held up an old glass pear to show me. It was perfect. I love pears. I posed it with a real pear and a knife on a cutting board from my kitchen. Because not everything is as it appears.

Swipe to see the original object. 🍐

Finished last week! 'It Must Be Love', oil on panel, 16x20". Finally ate the still life 😊 It was delicious.
I'd been wanting to try painting colorful foil wrappers - that was more of a challenge than I expected. The candy dish was found at a vintage shop in Port Angeles and the candies are made locally here in the Seattle area.
