Every time we walk into @alice_cheongdam , it feels like entering a different world entirely and it’s honestly wild how many great bartenders have come out of this bar. This time, @brianglez from St. Regis Bar Bangkok took over for a night we won’t forget.

The Velvet Brew stole the show for us. Creamy, hearty, with the nicest tonka finish lingering long after the sip. And the Sakura from Grand Central brought an amazing guava bomb that was so refreshing, the perfect contrast on the menu. Alice never disappoints, and this takeover was no exception.

We met @soko_son & @lechamber_jj earlier this year in Jakarta and fell in love with his drinks. Ever since, “visit their bar in Seoul someday” has been sitting on our list. Then we heard @shingo_gokan was taking over @soko_bar for one night, and someday became now. @gokan.hk is our favorite bar in the entire SG group, so this collab felt like a match made we all waited for. We packed our bags, invited our incredible friend and videographer @rickfanwilsen along to capture it, and flew to Seoul just for this night.

This content series also marks something special for us, jetlaggedjournal just crossed 50K followers, and we wanted to celebrate with a dedicated Seoul series, shooting the city’s best bars and bites over the coming days. Starting it off at a takeover this good felt right.

The menu did not disappoint. The Corn Nog was a standout: creamy, savory, tasting like the best version of corn you could imagine in a glass. And the Ume Cazzo! brought real umami depth while staying clean and balanced. Two bars, two philosophies, one unforgettable night.

We've been loving @agprabs and @lauraprabowo @penicillin_bar for a long time. Penicillin HK is one of those bars that changes how you think about a cocktail. So when we landed in Shanghai, @penicillin_shanghai was the bar at the top of our list.

You walk in under the iconic tree entrance, and the space opens up: bigger, warmer, and unmistakably Penicillin. We spotted a few familiar favourites from HK, then went straight into the all-new menu made just for this city.

Seeing what they've built here felt like catching up with an old friend in a new home. Shanghai, you're lucky. 🌳🍸

We timed this one right. Hairy crab is in season, and Duddell's makes the most of it. A One Michelin Star modern HK dim sum institution by Chef Chen Yau Leung.

We opened with dim sum. The hairy crab roe xiaolongbao was rich with umami, and the goldfish shaped dumpling was almost too pretty to eat. The mala lobster spring roll had a super thin, flaky shell and was very crispy. We kept talking about that one.

Then came the char siu, served two ways: the classic honey-glazed version and a Sichuan-spiced one with a little kick. We loved both. Their crispy local chicken was simple but full of flavour. The crab returned in a bowl of fine noodles with hand-picked crab meat and roe in chicken broth, which may have been the most umami dish of the day.

We finished with mango sago and walnut cookies. A proper Hong Kong dim sum institution.

Indian x Cantonese, and it doesn't hold back
Chef Manav Tuli's Leela in Hong Kong is fine dining that leans into bold flavour. It's a One Diamond recognized + Michelin Recommended restaurant, and recently awarded Tatler Asia's Best 100 Restaurants 2026.

Here's what we had:
🥣 Fish cheek rasam soup
🥟 Lamb keema
🌶️ Pork with Sichuan pepper
🔥 Tandoori char siu, eel and squid with shenga chutney
🐟 Steamed whole pomfret
🍆 Crispy chatpate aubergine
🐔 Whole roasted, tandoori-spiced three yellow chicken
🦀 Hairy crab biryani
☕ Hot chocolate chai to finish

Big, punchy, unforgettable.

We've always wondered what Narisawa Shanghai experience would be like. Well. It exceeded any of our expectations.

It opened simply with a spring roll topped with local caviar. Then came king crab tartare on brioche, sweet and delicate. Bread was fermented in front of us and baked on a hot stone at the table. The tuna with yam and Dalian uni was so buttery and full of umami.

The main course stole the night: Shandong wagyu from a Japanese farmer in China, raised to match Japanese standards, finished with the autumn Yunnan truffle.

Chinese ingredients, cooked with Narisawa's precision. A dinner to remember in Shanghai.

At @meetthebund_sh , Fujian-born Chef @chefyodachen cooks the food he grew up with — but sharpened, polished, and taken somewhere new.

The star? The ingredients meet refined cooking. Seafood so fresh and clean it barely needs anything, local produce treated with real respect, and flavours that are umami and unbelievably layered.

And as night falls, the whole Pudong skyline lights up in front of you — the Shanghai Tower, the Pearl, the river glittering below. Fujian on the table, Shanghai through the glass. We didn't want it to end.

What a Collab event.

That night we all flew to Surabaya for @arpo.sby first anniversary. Congratulations for the anniversary & huge thanks to @arnoldpo for being such a fantastic host.

We'd fly in and wash dishes all over again just to eat this meal.

Most chef collabs are a greatest-hits menu. This one wasn't. 🍽️

When Nouri came to Kindling Jakarta, both teams left their signatures behind and started from a blank page. Every course was new, made only for these nights.

We're still thinking about the botan ebi in fresh coconut milk with mala. The heat and the creaminess slowly gave way to the prawn's natural sweetness. The king crab with sambal hijau was gentle at first, then it hit hard. And the scallop with nduja, silken tofu and Hokkaido corn was one long wave of umami.

Fresh, fearless, and genuinely inventive. by @jetlaggedjournal

Flew to Surabaya and we kept our promise to do the dish @arpo.sby x @sijinbali x @noi.jkt 🥴 by @jetlaggedjournal
