Some men build empires. Today we built a table.

Rivers in the desert sometimes look like pink tablecloths, kids in button-ups, and a balloon that says “You’re the Best.”

I didn’t expect to be taught on the drive home from church…

but God used my son to remind me of something simple—
and honestly… something I’ve been overcomplicating.

We say “the church” like it’s a building.
But the early believers? They met in homes. They lived it daily.

And what hit me wasn’t just what he said…
it was how he knew to say it.

Nobody sat him down and explained that concept in depth.
Yet something in him recognized it.

That’s when it clicked for me…

God isn’t just working on us as adults.
He’s moving in our children too.

“Out of the mouths of babes…” (Matthew 21:16)

And if I’m being real—
it checked my heart.

Because it’s easy to attend…
but harder to actually carry it.

To live it.
To model it.
To create an environment where faith isn’t forced… but felt.

I’m still learning.

But one thing I know for sure—
God will use anyone… even your kids… to get your attention.

So the question I’m sitting with today is:

Am I just going to church…
or am I being the church?

Nobody really prepares you for this part of fatherhood…

Not the responsibility—
but the weight of your example.

I’m learning that my kids don’t need a perfect father…
they need a present one.

Because even when they’re not listening…
they’re watching how I respond, how I move, how I handle pressure.

And that’s been convicting me.

It’s easy to tell them what’s right…
it’s harder to live it consistently.

I used to think parenting was about correcting behavior—

now I’m realizing it’s more about modeling it.

Not forcing… not controlling…
but showing them what it looks like to live with discipline, patience, and purpose.

And honestly… I’m still learning that myself.

Kingdom-wise, I’m starting to understand—

it’s not just about raising kids…
it’s about stewarding lives God trusted me with.

So yeah… I’m gonna keep showing up.
Even when I don’t feel like it.

Because one day they won’t just remember what I said…

Just a normal Costco sample run with my son… until he noticed the camera 😅

But something hit me today.

There’s an older woman who does the samples there, and almost every time she’s the one serving… I end up buying whatever she’s offering.

Not because she’s pushing it.
Not because she’s selling hard.

She’s just kind, consistent, and does her job well.

It reminded me that real influence usually looks like that.

Quiet.
Consistent.
Authentic.

My son ran the wrong direction tonight and..

The coach corrected him.

He listened.

He tried again.

That’s when my wife said something powerful:

“He’s coachable.”

We know the big idols—money, fame, success.

But what about the people we put on pedestals?

Pastors. Influencers. Leaders. The ones we quote, defend, and look to like they can’t fail.

Here’s the danger: People will always disappoint. Not because they’re evil—because they’re human.

And when they fall? We don’t just lose respect for them. We question our faith.

That’s the part no one talks about. Idolizing people sets you up for a crisis you never saw coming.

Hezekiah didn’t tear down God’s altar. He just added to it. A little compromise. A little extra worship directed somewhere else.

Same thing happens when we elevate people next to God.

Exodus 20:3 says: “You shall have no other gods before me.”

Not just statues. People too.

Drop 👑 if you’re keeping your worship where it belongs.
