The Museo Egizio in #turin exceeded all my expectations! The collection of unparalleled quality outside of Egypt, But the way the presentation opens up ancient Egyptian art and culture in light of the most recent advances in archaeology, the study of ancient languages and history, as well as materials science is breathtaking.

I cannot recommend it highly enough!

An absolutely extraordinary visit to the Royal Palace in Turin ended with three drawings by none other than Leonardo da Vinci. The collections are amazing: Gentilleschi, Botticelli, Mantegna, van Dyck, and, of course, Leonardo!

Photographer Cara Romero's striking image was a lead subject in the Weltmuseum Wien's exhibition "If There Were a Tomorrow" in 2023-2024.

The show explored how different artists from around the world have taken up the genre of speculative fiction (sometimes called science fiction) to come to terms with pasts marked by violence, cultural suppression, and colonization, as well as to re-inagine the future, hope, and healing.

Why do I mention this now? Because museums are public spaces where we can explore ideas, learn new things, and re-imagine the world. All you need is to come visit.

These flowers adorn a decorative hair comb in the exhibition "Hidden Stories: Treasures from the Colllections" that casts light on three groups of objects (and questions they raise) in the collections of the Weltmuseum Wien: an extraordinary group of works of modern art from Pakistan in the 1980s, the hair combs as intimate objects, and sculptures carved of stone from around the world.
