Take a look at this one of a kind lakefront rehearsal room that we finished up earlier this year. We worked with @haverstickdesigns again for this project and the final product speaks for itself. With top of the line amenities and a dedicated storage room, you couldn’t ask for a better practice space.

➡️Swipe➡️ for progress of our current project in East Dallas with @haverstickdesigns on this rehearsal room. This is part 1 of 2 that we are working on in this amazing new build house, with part 2 starting in the next few weeks. Sheetrock goes up in this room next week, then we will be doing custom acoustical treatment on the walls and a 12’x16’ treated cloud, all with integrated LED lighting on Control4. Lots more to come in this room, so stay tuned for that as well as part 2 of this home! taken in White Rock Lake, Dallas Texas by @jgwservices

Build process for @thew6rst home studios pt.1

Here are some of the initial steps after getting a design and layout put together from @haverstickdesigns that would work with the space we had! The studio space is in a newly built home, in a residential area. Which meant that we had to try and keep the sound from being heard outside of the house.

To do that, we went with a 2x6 subfloor frame for the live tracking room, on rubber isolation pads to decouple from the existing structure. Filled with 6” batts of acoustic insulation, the subfloor joists were topped with noise proofing joist tape.

2 layers of OSB sub flooring, with a layer of 1/8” mass loaded vinyl in between gave us a solid and quiet base for our floating live room. MLV cut into 4” strips were used as a plate isolator for the wall framing that was up next, and this was just one more small detail to help reduce any vibrations or noise from transferring outside the room.

3 plugs for the large windows in the existing room were made to help keep the neighbors from hearing any 3am recording sessions, even though the expected STC rating for our build was likely to be enough. Some 3/4” MDF from the shop, a layer of MLV, insulation and some black carpet did the trick! From the outside, it looks like tinted windows.

Next update will include framing of the room, electrical and cable run layout and more soundproofing info. If there’s anything else you’d like to see or have explained, leave a comment! Let us know what you think by @jgwservices
