Thank you @westlife - my children grew up listening to your music and it was their idea to do this video when they found out we were visiting Dubai’s Flag Garden.

Finally got my linen stitch blanket going. Only took 3 restarts because I kept losing focus and couldn’t count to 4.

Following @sewhappycreativ’s Campervan Linen Stitch Ripple Blanket pattern and her hand-dyed DK yarn bundles.

I joined all the mini skeins into two magic balls so that I don’t have to deal with joining. Seaming ends is also more manageable this way.

Got my rhythm now and enjoying the calm this pattern brings.

Post-hike breakfast with work folks and family.

They hiked. Bernie and I waited for them at camp. We’ve filled our hiking quota this year.

Still warm but good to be outside. Egg fried rice, eggs, longganisa, hotdogs, danggit, salted egg and tomatoes. Plus coffee and great conversations. Reset done right.

Thanks, all. Until the next gala!

Sunset in Cold Ashton, 7 Oct 2026.

Taken while sticking out of the skylight window in our BnB room for the night. It was cold!

Shot in slo-mo x 0.5, inspired by free tutorials and tips from @ostory_en.

Ten days of walking the Cotswold Way killed me.

Just kidding.
Not really. It *nearly* killed me. Don’t get me wrong, being out in cool, fresh air with that scenery and without the stress of the dayjob was amazing! The compounded exhaustion day after day with not nearly enough time to reset caught up on me.

Still glad that this adventure was had.

I had the idea for this photo from Day 1. Thanks to the husband for indulging me.

Two days in London.

Priorities first: @knitandstitchshows in Alexanda Palace with @sue_markou. Huge show! So much to see and squish and be in awe of. We behaved ourselves; my haul later. @zatarknits was there too! Or at least her Wavelet pattern was.

After a break, we had a great Italian dinner at @bongusto_london with Sue and her son, Alex. After which we enjoyed the amazing @lumini.scence show at Westminster Cathedral. Necks strained but souls replenished with great music and amazing narration of the cathedral’s history by Hugh Bonneville.

Our last day in the city was spent shopping for essentials, packing and getting ready to leave. But first, a fabulous lunch with @bustronomelondon and a long overdue catch up with @laichan2019.

It was a win-win: amazing 4-course lunch with a great tour of the city and splendid catch up with Lai. It’s like no time passed at all.

After a rush to our bus and picking up our luggage at the hotel, it was time to say farewell again. Now on the way to LHR4 and back to Dubai.

It has been a wonderful time away to enjoy being alive! Thanks to everyone who made time to see us this trip. We’ll see you again soon!

Cotswold Way, Day 10 - Final Day

One last hiker’s breakfast in our last BnB. Decided to go light in case of a strenuous trail. Good decision.

The departure from our BnB was an adventure. We found a hidden foothpath parallel to Freezinghill Lane and then had to carefully walk along the A420 in freezing cold weather to get back to the path. Of course, I tripped on a vegetation and fell on the cold, wet grass - no injury, just really upset about that root sticking out of the ground. Bernie found the path soon enough but there were no clear markers and you had to walk into private property to access the public footpath. Just one of the little niggles about the CW!

The first uphill climb was a long one, but we were rewarded with a bunny sighting. We passed through the site of the 1643 Battle of Landsdown, the metal sculptures by David Morse, Sir Grenville’s monument, walked through the 4th, 6th and 7th holes of Landsdown golf course and even following 3 ladies as they hit their balls, stopped for a snack at the end of the 7th hole, passed by Prospect Stile viewpoint and finally Bath Racecourse.

And then it was the last push towards Bath Abbey, which still included hills. We ditched the CW path and stuck to Google maps to get us there. Same difference.

The front of Bath Abbey faces a promenade with restaurants and shops, the entrance to the Roman baths with a queue of tourists and a pretty good classical guitar player busking.

We took our photos on the CW marker and went on.

Our train to London was cancelled, but was lucky enough to find an earlier and faster train. After a quick shop for snacks and collecting our bags from the luggage store, we headed to Bath Spa and waited for our train.

We haven’t yet processed these 10 days, what our minds and bodies were able to achieve for us, the sights and sounds and deep emotional and spiritual impact of everything we have experienced, which I have no doubt will happen as we make our way back to our normal lives in Dubai.

But first, some catching up with friends and seeing the sights of London.

Cotswold Way, Day 9

Really good breakfast prepared by Richard which we shared with Anya from Germany.

Very cold morning, started drizzling as we crossed the footbridge over the M4. Found Anya at the end of a field where a diversion is suggested on the CW app. We decided to walk together for safety reasons.

Walked with a group of 3 other local guys. Managed to keep with their pace as the trail was mostly flat by then.

We let them go ahead at the end of the diversion. The way to our BnB for the night was off the trail and access is not very safe so we grabbed an Uber at a gas station.

It was the best accomodation we’ve had in the entire trail. And a warm welcome after a very drizzly day. The claw foot bathtub was an extra touch - I was dying for an epsom salt soak! We had skylights which gave us excellent views of the stars - the skies cleared up after sunset.

Cotswold Way, Day 8

Caught up with Marcia who I “met” on a Facebook group. Met lots of cows today including a herd of highland cows taking a bath! And a herd of fierce cows in a field.

We didn’t walk away from the trail to get to our BnB. We Uber’d to a Tesco to pick up stock first. Still a rather long distance for the hike.

Our host for the night, Richard was very gracious and entertaining. He had so many stories including a funny one about Silverstone GP with his buddies and sheep falling over with four hooves sticking up in the air! The bathroom in our room overlooked a field of sheep!

Cotswold Way, Day 7

Mostly cloudy day the entire way so that was good. Had a lot of uphill climbs today.

Encountered the infamous limbo rock log. I struggled to get out! Hence that look after I crossed under it.

Met a lot of cows which meant dodging more poo. How are they climbing that high up?

Glad we took a break at the bottom of the steepest and longest uphill climb.

Met a bumblebee among the blackberry bushes.

Stopped at Durseley and picked up sandwiches for lunch, then Ubered it to The Swan Hotel which had a pub dog and cat.

Cotswold Way, Day 6

It was a late start as we had a very engaging conversation with Greg, our BnB host during breakfast. It was a misty morning too but the weather just got better.

Record number of dogs met on the trail - some were very friendly, some a bit skittish but our favourite was the car-full of labradors heading for a walk!

We passed by the midway-ish marker as we climbed out of Painswick. Really encouraging sign of how far we’ve come but also a reminder of how much farther we had to go (55 miles at that point).

Seriously thought I saw a child waving at us from a barn! Turns out it was a mannequin. Creepy!

Saw three #CotswoldJesus figurines along the trail. Posted it on a Facebook group and inadvertently started a heated discussion about not leaving a trace on the trail, so I took the post down and also left the group.

Glad to have our photo taken properly, thanks to a group of American hikers who offered to take our photo by Haresfield Beacon. We also made a stop at Haresfield Topograph.

Met some very menacing cows at the bottom of a hill. You couldn’t have made me go through that silly stile fast enough!

Hung around The Village Inn until Ben’s Takeaway opened. We picked up rice and noodles for dinner. If you are staying in King’s Stanley - don’t miss Ben’s. It’s great value for money and tastes amazing too.

We stayed in Orchardene where our host Tom and his wife took great care of us. Breakfast was amazing; spent chatting with Craig and his wife who finished their hike and were heading to Swansea.

Our only regret was not being able to get a proper Sunday roast.

Cotswold Way, Day 5

It was a drizzly, cloudy start from Birdlip so it was nice to be walking in the woods for the first stretch.

The approach to Painswick was through a golf course that was spread across a wide area. The Cotswold Way app told us to cut through the green but some golfers shooed us off to a path towards one side. This took us up to Painswick Beacon which was a good view. Bumped into Nancy again, a Canadian hiker who we met on Day 1.

Had lunch at the Art Cafe and waited at St. Mary’s until we could check in.

Dinner at The Oak and stayed at St. Anne B&B where we were the only guests for the night. Our host Greg and his pups took great care of us - we’re the penultimate guests before they close the season.
