Singaporean actor @jialerkoh_’s journey into film began with serendipity, when he was 11 years old. Now, fresh off the third and final instalment of Anthony Chen’s ‘Growing Up’ trilogy, Koh’s approach to acting is more discerning, more sure of his path. “Can I play this character as well as him? Can I be better than him? How can this actor play this character so well?” he mused.

The trilogy saw Koh go from the young boy in ‘Ilo Ilo’ to playing a father in ‘We Are All Strangers’, so much so that whatever path awaits him feels equally fated. “I want to challenge myself with characters who are very different from who I am,” he says. “There is always something new to discover.”

We held a Hokkien Mee Cookout last month where @andi.lim_weiwen , who plays a hokkien mee hawker in the movie, goes head-to-head with @jialerkoh_ , who plays his son.

No better way to celebrate the launch of a Singapore-made film than with a karaoke party at @filmhousesg . Last month, we ran an exhibit designed by @shilin_ multiple Q&A sessions alongside re-runs of ILO ILO《爸妈不在家》and WET SEASON《热带雨》, screenings of WE ARE ALL STRANGERS《我们不是陌生人》, and a karaoke party together with @tigerbeersg We are super grateful for the people who made it happen and everyone who celebrated along with us❤️✨
