Hello families in Valencia, Spain! 🇪🇸✨

I’m so ready to share my sessions with you! If you want to find a sweet, cute new way to connect and play with your little ones, come join my class! 🎶

You will learn new songs to help them pick up new words and introduce them to the world of music. Singing and picking up these early melodies will help them sing in tune and truly appreciate music later on!

If you feel like your little one is a bit of a baby koala—constantly stuck to your chest and a little anxious about exploring the world or interacting with other kids—please know this is totally normal for their age and temperament! But, you can help build their confidence by introducing them to a safe space to practice social skills at their own pace.

Please note that classes are held in English! It is a wonderful opportunity for natural English immersion, but the sessions are designed to be visual, active, and incredibly easy to follow for non-native speakers too.

DM me if you would like to attend!

¡Hola, familias de Valencia! 🇪🇸✨

📩 ¡Enviadme un mensaje directo (DM) si os gustaría asistir by @jigglejamlisbon

I’m writing this post with a mix of sadness and excitement. As many of you know, my family and I are moving to Spain and I won’t be running any more sessions in Lisbon in the future.

It’s truly been an incredible journey over the last couple of years. I’ve loved every moment of exploring music and play with your little ones and watching them grow, learn, and express themselves.

I’ll be donating 100% of the ticket sales from this last class to support a family in urgent need in Gaza. The funds will go directly to helping two small children, Bilal and Ronza, who are suffering from severe malnutrition.

If you would like to attend, please DM your WhatsApp contact book your spot.

Location : Estrela Park
Date : 29th July 2025
Time : 11 am ( 45 mins session)
Price : 16€ ( parents attend for free )

Thank you so much for your support, for your trust, and for sharing your beautiful families with me. It’s been an honor to be a part of your journey.

Please keep the music playing in your homes! by @jigglejamlisbon

Did you know that playing music in the womb can significantly benefit your baby's development? 🎶 Research shows that music exposure helps stimulate cognitive growth and emotional bonding before birth.

According to Nueroscience News, “ Daily exposure to music during the last trimester of pregnancy is associated with more robust coding of speech stimuli.
Prenatal exposure to music is associated with fine-tuned coding of the fundamental frequency of human speech, which may facilitate processing and early language acquisition. The musical stimulus reaches the auditory system with low-frequency rhythmic components that train it to organize neural plasticity.”

So for expecting mums, listen to music on the daily and I look forward to having you in class to share beautiful musical experiences together with your baby

🌟 Every Child is Unique 🌟

In my classes, I sometimes notice parents feeling stressed that their child isn’t sitting sit still, like the other children in the circle. Even though we know that every child is different, and that every child learns differently, as parents, we still feel uncomfortable when our child is doing something different from the group. It’s a normal to feel this way, especially if we are first time parents and being in a social group setting is a new experience for us.

I always remind parents that some children are observers, while others are more kinesthetic, and they learn by moving around.

Sitting still isn’t a natural state for lots of young kids. Many of them can’t sit still for more than a few minutes and some children have a harder time sitting still than others.

I understand that walking around is a natural part of their development and learning process and there’s plenty of time to learn about sitting still when they start going to school.

My classes are designed to be a safe and open space where children can explore and be themselves. If your child wants to walk around, that's perfectly okay! by @jigglejamlisbon

Let’s talk about why props are super important when it comes to teaching babies and toddlers music. 🎶

Interactive Learning: Props encourage interaction. For children that may take a longer time to warm up, it really gives the impulse/ boost to encourage them to get up from safety of mum or dad’s lap and come to the middle of the circle, to get eye-catching props. This helps them to boost their confidence, little by little and soon they will feel more comfortable separating from their parents and moving around the space more freely with the other children.

Engagement: Props grab their attention! Bright colors, interesting shapes, and different textures keep them engaged and excited about learning.

Sensory Stimulation: Babies and toddlers learn through their senses. Props provide opportunities for them to explore sound, touch, and even movement, enhancing their sensory development.

Creativity Boost: Props spark creativity! They inspire imaginative play Sometimes when I see a child banging a drum like crazy, I know it’s also a way for to release energy and express themselves in a new and creative way!

Remember this for at home parents! It's not just about the instruments; When you are cooking for example, you can lay out everyday objects like wooden spoons, pots, and pans, so they can explore being creative with music-making while you cook!🥁 by @jigglejamlisbon

About 6 months ago, my daughter was invited to sing at a school assembly in front of her year group. Initially, she was thrilled and practiced for weeks. However, the day before the performance, she became extremely anxious. She said she was scared to sing in front of so many people.

I tried to encourage her and help settle her nerves. I reminded her that she had spent so much time practising and that she was ready.

When I realised how insistent she was, I know that pressuring her would only increase her anxiety. Her music teacher and I decided to just let it go.

I told her she didn’t have to do it until she felt ready.

Fast forward 6 months later…

Yesterday, during a family day session, I came up with a way to invite her to sing without making her feel pressured.

I said casually, “Sahara, I’m going to need your help to hold the microphone while I play my ukulele? If you feel like singing, you can totally join in.”

To my surprise, she ended up singing most of the song! Her first time ever singing in front of a whole bunch of people.

It’s sobering these lessons they teach us of how we have to let go sometimes, while still finding creative ways and moments to call them in, and to create experiences to help them bust their fears. I’m still having to learn as a parent - when to push, when to let go and how to find the balance of both.

Maybe she will feel more confident moving forward, maybe she will still feel the nerves. I know all I have to remember is to keep encouraging her, but to follow her lead and to always make it fun! by @jigglejamlisbon
