My October 2026 Reads!

Not gonna bother much with reviews here. Just wanted to share what I've been reading 😬

NESTLINGS
by Nat Cassidy

This is on deck to start tomorrow after I finish my current book but it was the only one with a good cover, thus I put it first 🤣

WHERE THE DEAD BRIDES GATHER
by Nuzo Onoh
⭐️⭐️⭐️

My first time reading a book by the "Queen of terrifying Nigerian Horror." Oh yes!

THE HAUNTING OF MADDY CLARE
by Simone St. James

A young woman in 1920's England is hired as an assistant to a ghost hunter studying a house haunted by a deceased servant.

THE CABIN AT THE END OF THE WORLD
by Paul Tremblay
⭐️⭐️⭐️

I know, I'm late to the party on this one as I'd already seen the movie before reading this. I can see M. Night Shyamalan didn't waste any time watering down the story. The book is far more shocking but honestly, not enough apocalyptic scenes in either! by @jill_girardi

My old friend and brother @billyrazorback came over today and we watched GHOSTBUSTERS, carved pumpkins, and roasted seeds. Once again, it's like we're five, except this time we're allowed to use the oven. by @jill_girardi

Yesterday, I saw a girl who looked just like Nicole in Pets Warehouse. For a second, I allowed myself to imagine that Nicole wasn't gone, but was just in a new life working in a pet store with animals she loved. She was happy. Then reality hit me yet again. It always stabs me at the oddest times. When I see random witchy things she liked, goth makeup palettes, Lovecraftian octopuses, little horses. I miss her crazy unfiltered messages and posts. I replay the last voice message she sent me when my mom passed away, telling me she was thinking about me and she loved me. I love you too, my friend. I miss you Nicole!! @nicole_interrupted by @jill_girardi

We made Halloween Monster Burgers... because we are five. 🎃👻🍔 by @jill_girardi

I cam't believe it's been three years since this baby was released! My short story is the opener of this book alongside greats like Ronald Kelly, Edward Lee, Joe R. Lansdale, and many more! That's the nekkid owl woman from my story, Ruthless, on the cover, which was done by Robert Sammelin.🦉 by @jill_girardi

Today would have been my mom's 78th birthday. I spent the day watching her favorite movie, Peggy Sue Got Married. It's also the last movie she watched before she died. I see it now as the story of a woman who goes back in time to review her life and change all the things she regrets, yet still ends up making the same choices because of love. If that isn't my mom's story, I don't know what is. It's been nine months since she left us on Christmas morning. I don't think I'll ever get over this 😭 by @jill_girardi

Meet Beezle! She's missing the tip of her ear as the vet who spayed her thought I was putting her back on the street (as if!) and tagged her without confirming with me first. You don't know what rage is until someone disfigures your baby. Nevertheless, The Beez is fat and thriving. She loves her wall scratcher, enjoys watching television, and has taught the other cats to smoke and raid the garbage can in the middle of the night. by @jill_girardi
