Dear all,

This is hard news to share. For the past 9 months, Jill has been courageously fighting against a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. She has shown so much strength, grace, and a deep passion for life through this journey - holding on with humor and love, as is her way.

Yesterday morning, Jill passed away surrounded by love and support.

Although she chose to keep this news private, she asked that a word of love be extended out to this community that has supported her work and creativity so generously, and for whom she felt deep care.

“Things to remember: You are a soul wearing a human disguise, Nobody knows what’s going on, Everything is a miracle” is the last quote she shared with all of you, and it is so beautifully her.

If you’re feeling grief, we invite you to look up at the sky today, as she does in this picture, remembering that clouds pass, to reveal blue skies in daylight and stars at nighttime. The strength and kindness of the community you have built around Find me in Paris and Spellbound brought much joy to Jill, please continue to lean on each other in times of need, and cheer each other on through the joys. In that way, you carry Jill’s memory too.

14 years. Sober for 14 years today. What a ride. There was a time when a psychic told me that one day I’d quit alcohol and cigarettes and never look back. That I wouldn’t miss it. I laughed in his face. Who was i without those props?? But he was right. Was it easy? Not at the beginning, no. Having to peel beck layers and layers of who I’d been hiding, but for what? In fact, all I discovered was that I was a delight. Nothing to hide. Imperfect, of course, but the biggest discovery was that I’m actually a pretty bas ass mofo, much more so than when I was the party girl of college street. Sure, she was fun. But she wasn’t me. And I like the many different versions I keep becoming more and more as I grow. You know you can do this too right? Just take the first step. I promise each one gets better. Even when it’s hard. We never know what’s waiting around the corner for us. So go for it. If you think you have a problem, I’d go with that and see what recovery looks like for you. It’s so deeply personal but if you dive in, I bet you’ll be so fucking happy that you did. Every day is a gift. Love love love. Here’s to many more sober birthdays! 💜💜💜💜 by @jillgirling

Making a show isn’t possible without every single person involved, but it really can only become a success with the fans, and you are all the best of the best. When my sister passed on Saturday, I thought about canceling my trip to Edinburg on Sunday. My gut said don’t cancel. Go, keep on living, I thought. I’m so glad I did. My dad comes to me with feathers sometimes, so when I turned the corner and saw these wings I thought… there you are Dad. And Patti. My big sister Patti passed away this morning. She was sick for a very long time and yet somehow when the day you knew was coming arrives, it’s a shock. Time plays tricks. Five minutes ago we were eating a giant square pizza from pizza delight with ham and pineapple on it. And then just sitting at the dining room table where she told me crazy stories about ghosts and family folklore. Just making (and failing miserably) Nanimo bars while my 2 year old niece ate her ham and cheese sandwich and talked to the invisible man she saw in the doorway. Ghosts. When I spoke to my niece tonight an image popped into my head. My sister with my dad. And Karen my sister in law that passed way too soon. An my baby nephew Max. I’m not religious. But I know energy doesn’t die so they’re all there, on the other side of the veil probably laughing at the silly things that bother us, and sending us messages to remember the things that really matter. Love. Peace. Friends. Family. Family you choose. And family you lose. And cats. And chocolate. And bread. And French butter. With chunks of Normandy salt in it. Patti was a foodie. And the slowest eater you’ve ever met. She was still on her salad when you’d finished dessert. And hilarious. And beautiful. I loved her, I love her. I hope she comes to see me when she can. Love to all. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 PS she was the first female letter carrier in Canada and that is totally badass.💜💜💜💜 by @jillgirling
