I went to recap my August wardrobe and realized I had nothing to share, oops! I suppose that’s proof of a happy, busy summer. 🧡

My kind of thrill! As another summer comes to a close, I can tell you right now I will be nostalgic for this summer with my boys and all our cherished people. I know I’ll yearn for the way this summer felt like the first time I had three children instead of one or two + a baby - the freedom that has afforded has given way to so many fun memories for us as a complete family of five, opposed to the divide and conquer family we’ve been in previous summers with a baby. I’ll look back on this summer and remember it as the summer we came together as five in our outings and activities and, oftentimes, our bedtimes. It has been fun and special in so many I-can’t-put-it-into-words ways. I’m in love with July and always in awe of August, summer’s swan song. It’s the tippy top peak of summer that slips away so quickly into the brilliance of September and fall. I can’t wait to see what September holds ✨ taken in Thimble Islands by @jillian_eversole

We spend part of every summer in a house from the cover of an old J.Crew catalog. 💙 Since Rowan was born, we’ve spent part of every summer on a little island off the coast of Connecticut. The island has one house on it, no wifi, and no tv. The house graced the cover of J.Crew’s Spring 1989 Catalog. It’s iconic but also an absolute hidden gem. It’s sleepy and humble in its splendor. As local lore goes, in the 1600s, famed pirate Captain William Kidd buried treasure in the waters surrounding the islands as he was fleeing pirate hunters. Our kids look for the treasure every summer. (We’re still waiting for our lives to change with a big discovery.)

On saying goodbye to the daughter I never had 🩷

This is a post that has been on my heart for a long time. I feel an overwhelming amount of gratitude for my three boys, the exact three children I was meant to have. Still, I walked my own path of mourning the relationship with a daughter that I always imagined I would have too.

I know so many mothers of all boys have wrestled with some version of this, and I’ve found peace in reading their words over the years. It feels therapeutic to write my own thoughts on my experience.

Last of Mallorca 💫 because time flies in the summer and I can’t seem to muster the desire to be on my phone to post in a more timely manner!

I knew I would be in London for a quick two nights, so I texted @lcstraker and asked her if she wanted to come into the city to meet me for an extra night. She said “absolutely!” Lucy declared, “Let’s do London! Or! Would you want to go somewhere within a two hour plane or train from the city?!” I asked her what she had in mind and five minutes later we decided to go to Spain! It was a whim and so fun!
