After two years of constant shoulder problems, two surgeries, setbacks, tears, prayers, and countless hours of physical therapy, I officially graduated from PT today. It’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant to me.

The second time around, doctors thought I was dealing with bicep tendinitis. When they went in for a scope to clean up what they believed was scar tissue, they discovered something much bigger—two additional tears near the one they had repaired the year before, and a rotator cuff that could actually pop in and out of place. After repairing everything, I now have eight anchors and a screw in my shoulder. A lot of metal, but also a lot of evidence of everything my body has fought through.

One of the hardest parts of this journey was making the decision to end my volleyball career. Volleyball wasn’t just a sport to me—it was something I loved deeply. Letting that go has been heartbreaking, but I knew I wasn’t willing to risk a third surgery. Even in the disappointment, I trust that God has a plan for my life that is bigger than the one I had planned for myself.

This journey has tested me physically, mentally, and emotionally in ways I never expected. There were days I felt frustrated, discouraged, and exhausted. But through every setback, God gave me the strength to keep going when I didn’t think I had any left.

Today, I’m walking away from physical therapy with a healed shoulder, a grateful heart, and a completely different perspective on life. I still have to be careful, but I’m thankful to be able to do most of the things I love again.

To my family, friends, surgeons, and physical therapists—thank you for every prayer, every encouraging word, every ride, every check-in, and every moment you stood by me. I truly could not have made it through these past two years without you.

This chapter was incredibly hard, but it also showed me how faithful God is. And for that, I’ll always be grateful. 💗🙏❤️‍🩹 by @jillianludeke
