Leaving another hotel room. Another event, another stage, another room that isn’t home.

Men: here’s the real thing no one says out loud. Your kids don’t care about the revenue, the stages, or the follower count. They care that dad was gone, and that dad came back.

The night before my flight to this trip, we got devastating news, and it was the hardest flight and few days I’ve ever felt being away from them. But there’s another lesson in it. Showing your kids you do what you say you’re going to do matters.

I used to chase success like it would impress them one day. Now I know better. They won’t remember the deals. They’ll remember whether I was present when it mattered once the thing is done.

Build the business. Take the trip. But never get so busy building a life for them that you forget to live it with them.

There’s a moment for fathers where everything changes.

One day you’re a kid, making dumb decisions, trying to pay bills, and figure your own life out. The next thing you know, your body chemistry changes the moment you hold your child for the first time. This photo was that moment for me.

You ask yourself if you’re ready, if you made the right decision, if you can protect and provide, and when you stopped being a kid yourself. In my case, fast forward 15 years and while the questions always remain, the answers are always found within.

- The sleepless nights were nothing compared to the countless laughs.
- The unknowns were always hard because you cared enough to make them worth solving.
- Your daughter’s first broken heart and wanting to commit justified [redacted] only to have her fall asleep crying in your arms, safe and loved.

The hardest job. The shittiest pay. And the biggest reason I wake up with joy in my heart and optimism in my soul.

Not to fix a broken world. But to create the version my family is proud to live in.

I recorded with @loriharder last week on Earn Your Happy, and I’m still sitting with the conversation.

Top 25 podcast. I can’t wait to share this message with so many people!

We talked about growing up with purpose, playing the long game, and thinking about AI practically.

Lori has been a mentor and a friend for years. She’s seen greatness in me that I’ve struggled to find in myself. She’s never stopped believing in it either.
