Fridman Gallery through New Ear (@newearinc)’s program is honored to present KINETIC ROOTS by Jinyoung Park (@jinjinyouu) and collaborators.

About the Work:

Home is not a fixed place, but a space that continues
to be created through the time and memories we have
lived through, and through the relationships we form
with the people we meet along the way.

Bodies and sounds originating from different places
and times follow the sensations of movement and
memory, departure and staying.
Body and object, music and poetry look at the same
journey through different languages.

Through beings who move with memories of the past,
form relationships in unfamiliar spaces, stay for a
while, and then leave again, the work asks questions
about the places where we stay and the relationships
we create.

집 : 움직이는 뿌리

집은 고정된 장소가 아니다.
지나온 시간, 기억, 그리고 그 안에서 만난 사람들이 쌓여 만들어지는 공간.

서로 다른 문화와 언어를 가진 몸들이
움직임과 사운드로 각자의 '집'을 꺼내놓는다.
머물다 떠나고, 떠났다 다시 돌아오는 감각.

PART 1
The Body of the Past

The body exists in the present while carrying traces of time already lived. Images and objects call up the past; the body walks, looks, repeats
and transforms, moving between past and present.

PART 2
Home in Relation

Different bodies and sounds enter an emptied space. Poetry, music and movement respond to one another, creating temporary relationships and,
for a moment, a home.

PART 1
과거의 몸

몸은 현재에 존재하지만, 그 안에는 지나온 시간의 흔적이 남아 있다. 이미지와 사물은
지나간 시간을 불러오고, 몸은 걷고 바라보고 반복하며 과거와 현재를 오간다.

PART 2
관계 속의 집

비워진 공간에 서로 다른 몸과 소리가 들어온다.
시와 음악, 움직임은 서로에게 반응하며 잠시 관계를 만들고 하나의 집을 세운다.

ABOUT THE WORK

집은 하나의 고정된 장소라기보다, 우리가 지나온 시간과 기억, 그리고 그곳에서 만난 사람들과의 관계 속에서 계속 만들어지는 공간이다.
서로 다른 장소와 시간에서 출발한 몸과 소리는 이동과 기억, 떠남과 머무름의 감각을 따라간다.
몸과 오브제, 음악과 시는 서로 다른 언어로 같은 여정을 바라본다.
지나온 기억을 가지고 움직이고, 낯선 공간에서 관계를 만들며, 잠시 머물다 다시 떠나는 존재들의 모습을 통해 우리가 머무는 곳과 관계에 대해 질문한다.

February was a time to return home and enjoy a slower pace of life. I spent time with a friend who came to visit my neighborhood and shared precious moments with my family. Amid those warm and quiet days, I devoted myself to writing a grant application, gently preparing for the season ahead.2월은 집으로 돌아와 천천히 숨을 고르며 여유를 되찾은 시간이었다. 우리 동네를 찾아온 친구를 만나 반가운 시간을 보냈고, 가족과 함께 일상의 소중한 순간들을 나누었다. 그렇게 따뜻하고 평온한 시간 속에서 하나의 지원서를 정성껏 써 던거 같다 by @jinjinyouu
