Another one day mural SLAY!! 💁🏾‍♀️💅✨🎨

This time for @streetwisearts Summer Mural Series in Boulder! Thank you @hellopearlstreet for sponsoring💪🏾. The theme of this mural series was Collective Healing. I chose my Take Up Space design because it’s an affirmation for any one who feels “othered” to show up authentically in all spaces all the time! This triptych mural took 13 hrs to paint and this time I had the help of my two friends @montyy_python and @chef_jan_5280 which definitely added to the success! We had so much fun yesterday chatting with the community, dancing and just being our silly selves. You can find this artwork behind @bouldertheater in the alley off Pearl St! Tag me in your selfies🤘🏾.

Eeeeeeeeeee! I’m SO EXCITED to share my limited edition @the_marigold_project poster for the 2023 @nathanielrateliff tour! Screen printed by @inkloungedenver 🤩. This concept came so naturally to me once I learned that Nathaniel loves gardening/landscaping just like me! Marrying his love for plants and music I stuck his tambourine into the dirt and added some lil critters to make this marigold plot really pop! I’ve never done an illustration for a screen print before so this entire process was a valuable learning experience. I got to visit Stuart at his screen printing shop here in Denver so I could HAND SIGN all 500 prints! 😮‍💨 well worth the love! What do you think? Grab your copy on Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats website before they are all gone!

I didn’t finish the @peachtober challenge but you all made it very clear that this cowboy illustration needed to be a print!

It’s 10”x10” and the colors are glorious. It’ll be in the shop for the update on Nov 28th 3pm MT. But anyone seeing me at any in person events this weekend get first dibs!: @christopher.lafleur.arts Holigay Bazaar on Saturday and @denvermakersmarket on Sunday.

Hope you all enjoy your time off this week🤗.

It’s important that we never give up and never forget that a fight for the planet is a fight for humanity.

“The sheer volume of mining claims filed (72) so far in the land cut from Bears Ears National Monument should dispel any lingering illusion about the administration’s true aim,” said Charlie Luke, Utah State Director for The Wilderness Society. “The president and the Utah delegation, led by Senator Lee, would sacrifice irreplaceable cultural resources, wildlife habitat, clean air and water, and our freedom to experience this magnificent place for the short-term profit of a few. We owe future generations a Bears Ears that remains healthy, intact and conserved.” Thanks to Light Hawk for flying us over the areas previously protected from mining under monument status and for Chaitna and Kaya from Grand Canyon Trust for joining me on the ground later in the trip. taken in Bears Ears National Monument by @jitterbug_art

In the voiceover I am reading an excerpt from a poem written by an indigenous writer named Joy Harjo called Remember. Natives have always been at the forefront of the fight to protect the environment. They know better than all of us the importance of being a good steward, human, and neighbor. I found her words very fitting for this moment. #protectpubliclands by @jitterbug_art

It’s all connected. Caring about the planet is caring about the people. We are one in the same. If we don’t show outrage where they think it doesn’t matter it emboldens them to continue to extract and take from us. Where do we draw the line? They cut protections to 90 PERCENT of the national monument! Thats the whole damn thing. This landscape is prehistoric and incredibly fragile. Once it’s damaged, dug up, and trampled over it’ll never be the same. These lands deserve to be protected! by @jitterbug_art

Earlier this week I explored some of the vast areas recently removed from Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument with some amazing wilderness advocates. Unbelievable that the current administration deems these places to be unworthy of monument designation. The history and legacy of these places are far more valuable than what can be extracted beneath the surface for short term financial gain. taken in Grand Staircase - Escalante by @jitterbug_art

Sometimes the after doesn’t workout cause the sun ran away lol. I’m still buzzing from my time in Utah last weekend and I’m looking forward to sharing more about all that I learned.

Excited to be hitting the road and heading to Utah to visit the landscapes that inspired this series of paintings. Along with my friends at @wildernesssociety I’ll be visiting some of Utahs gorgeous parks to be inspired, soak in the beauty, and most importantly spread awareness about these spaces. We want to save our public lands from being destroyed by corporate greed. As I displayed with my painting series it’s really hard to put these places back together once destroyed. So we need to act now, play now, and preserve now while we can. See you on the road!

It’s embarrassing to admit I have only had this one sale since May. I’m trying to change that! There was a time when my online store was most of my income. It would be a dream come true to get back on that momentum. Guess I’ve gotta share more 🤭 #plants #printshop #stickershop #artist #naturelover by @jitterbug_art
