No voiceover, just wedding music🪉🎵

I had so much fun arranging these songs, and even more fun playing in this naturally reverb-filled chapel over the weekend!

Congratulations to S&T 💍🤍

Last month, I gave my junior recital! This is the closing bit of my recital— I closed with Godefroid’s “La danse de sylphes," one of my favorite pieces on the program. Thank you to everyone who listened to me, taught me, encouraged me, and supported me to make this performance possible! Can’t wait for the next one 🎉 by @jjmharp

You’re invited to my junior recital! I’ve been working on this program since the summer, and this 45 minutes of music is something I feel incredibly blessed and excited to share. Admission is free, and no prior music knowledge is required 🤍

I won’t be on social media until then, so please text me if you have any questions or anything! See you there!

This won’t be live-streamed by the school of music, but please let me know if you would be interested in watching in real time.

Torre Bermeja by Albeniz! This was a one-take attempt, and I’m really happy with how it went overall! by @jjmharp

Hello chromaticism 😅 I recently added the first (Moderé) of Nadia Boulanger’s Pieces for Cello and Piano to my recital program! The main challenge is this middle section… lots of pedal changes and unexpected chords! The second slide is my slow work from yesterday, playing just the left hand with pedal changes under tempo. And of course this is the only section with an accelerando 😵‍💫 I’m very curious if any other harpists have played this piece (or this specific arrangement by Catherine Anderson)! by @jjmharp

POV: you want to record but percussion ensemble is rehearsing downstairs 😅 (put your thumb over your phone speaker to feel the bass) by @jjmharp

There’s a blizzard today and I can’t go to school to practice… so here’s a recording of Houdy’s Sonata for Harp, movement iii. Vivo! I took video this before performing in studio class, and I’m looking forward to having the time to implement the feedback I got. I’ll be posting an improved version of this movement soon! by @jjmharp

Practice ➡️ recording! Tzigane is an excerpt I’ve been absolutely terrified of since I heard it two years ago… but now that I understand it, it’s actually one of my favorites to play! I still have some room to go in terms of consistency and timing, but I’m really proud of my clean sound! It’s so diabolical to have this at the end of a one-take audition though… 😅 by @jjmharp

There was something in the air that night…🔴⚪

I haven’t been able to get this tune out of my head since last night, so here’s my congratulations to @fernandomendoza and @indianafootball! Even the Jacobs students were part of the frenzy 🏈

Largo from Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 3! This piece has gone through such a journey of arranging and transcribing (Saint-Saëns, then Grandjany, then Szmyt) but I’m so grateful that this gem has been optimized for the harp. Enjoy! by @jjmharp

We’re back!! I have a recital this semester (March 1, 5pm in Ford-Crawford Hall), so recording has a purpose this semester that I am more on board with, which is to test my memory and get nervous playing for people!

This is Houdy’s Sonata for Harp, movement 2 (Lento). Enjoy, and I would love to hear how I can improve in the comments!! 💕 by @jjmharp
