I can’t imagine growing up anywhere else. North Ogden was pure magic.

Summer days at Oaklawn Park and North Ogden Park, chasing baseballs until the sun dipped behind the mountains. Riding bikes with friends to King’s for candy runs, then stopping at Washburn’s Pharmacy with pockets full of change for penny candy like it was treasure.

Grabbing a hamburger at Kirt’s, working my first job at Cold Springs Trout Farm, then later at Video Express… life felt simple, full, and just right.

High school nights hanging out at Country Boy Dairy, laughing about nothing and everything.

Looking back, it wasn’t just where I grew up… it was who I grew up with. That’s what made it unforgettable.

Tonight, the sky lit up with so many beautiful hues, blending together in a way that only God could create. Moments like these remind me just how grateful I am for His creations.

North Ogden is such a beautiful place! Despite the growth and development around us, the majestic Ben Lomond Peak remains a familiar reminder of the beauty that has always made this place feel like home.

This year has been one of the most challenging years of our lives together. The peaks have been incredible, and the valleys have been deeper than we ever imagined. But through it all, one thing has remained constant, my love for you has only grown stronger.

You are incredibly strong, the rock of our family, a beloved teacher, an extraordinary friend, and one of the most Christlike people I know. I am constantly amazed by your strength, grace, faith, and the way you love and care for others, even when facing your own challenges.

Through every high and low, there is no one I would rather walk through life with than you.

In the fire service, loss is something you never truly escape. Most often, it’s the lives lost that we’re called to save that stay with us.

Today, it hits closer to home.

Today we lost a friend, an EFO colleague, and one of the smartest, most respected fire chiefs I’ve ever had the privilege to know. Rusty Shoultz, your leadership, wisdom, and impact won’t be forgotten.

I love this woman more and more each day. Today is her birthday, and anyone who truly knows Amber knows just how big her heart is. She gives so much of herself to others, serves constantly, and does it all with a quiet kind of selflessness that inspires me.

This life is a proving ground. It brings both bright days and heavy ones and sometimes long stretches of the heavy ones.

Some carry lifelong illness. Some have witnessed trauma or endured abuse. Some have lost someone far too soon. Others feel unseen, misunderstood, or overlooked. Whatever you are feeling, please know this: there is One who has felt it all and knows how to heal.

Just don’t give up.

This Easter morning, I bear witness that Jesus Christ knows you and loves you.

Be like the man who waited 38 years at the Pool of Bethesda and never lost hope.
Be like the woman who reached out in faith to touch the hem of His garment.
Be like Peter the Apostle who, though he faltered, never lost faith.

Jesus Christ is the Light of the world. I know He lives. I know He will come again.

Spring break, St. George style ☀️🌴

A little bit of everything this week… slow mornings, sunshine, the temple, catching up with friends, a few swings on the course, some fishing lines cast, and plenty of poolside lounging. Just what the soul ordered.

We missed @aidanj_21 he stayed back holding down the fort and doing the whole “responsible adult” thing (someone’s gotta do it 😅).

There was a moment when the streets filled with quiet reverence and rising hope. A King entered, not crowned in gold, but in humility. And those who recognized Him laid palm branches at His feet, a simple but powerful offering of honor, submission, and love.

I wonder what it would have felt like to be there… to see Him, to know.

We weren’t there.

We didn’t walk those roads or lay palm fronds in His path.

But maybe… we’re still invited to place something at His feet.

Not branches this time, but burdens.

Habits. Pride. Doubt. Distractions. Anything that creates distance between who we are and who He invites us to become.

My fitness journey is powered by elite paramedic lieutenant science 🧪🚑
@ja_the_radd fuels the squad with grapes & pumpkin cookies (performance nutrition, obviously 🍇🍪),
@slowerider12 upgraded me with patriotic sweatbands so I can suffer more efficiently 🇺🇸💪,
and Coltin’s got me running in a hoodie with the hood up… now I feel like Rocky every workout 🥊🔥
Surrounded by greatness… or at least really committed ideas 😂

The scriptures speak often of the wilderness.

Maybe that’s because every one of us walks through our own wilderness at some point in life. Sometimes it looks like trials, sometimes loss, sometimes confusion or feeling far from God.

One truth brings me peace: there is nothing we face that Jesus Christ has not already felt and overcome. Because of Him, we are never truly alone in the wilderness. He understands perfectly, and He stands as our Advocate and Mediator before our Father in Heaven.

He walks with us through every valley, every question, and every quiet struggle.

Sometimes you hook the fish… and sometimes you miss the hook set and end up hooking yourself. 🎣😬

Since I couldn’t get it out, I did the only logical thing… cut the line and kept fishing so I didn’t get skunked. Priorities….

Eventually a little lidocaine and a pair of steady hands took care of the problem.
