Dinner party season is almost here, and I’m ready for it.

I’ve always loved designing dining rooms because there are so many ways to approach them. Rich color and velvet, something a little more glamorous, walls of windows and natural light, or a quieter room where the lighting gets to have some fun.

There is something incredibly special about watching a hand-knotted rug come to life.

Solace is created slowly, knot by knot, by our extraordinarily skilled artisan partners in Nepal. A process that takes time, patience and generations of knowledge. Every detail is made by hand, and every piece carries the story of the people who created her.

From learning the art of hand-screening fabric and seeing the craftsmanship behind the process, to lunch with the talented @lukeedwardhall at The Dorchester and discovering the work of porcelain artist @lucillelewin .

I don’t think I chose interior design. I think it found me.

Long before interior design became my career, I was fascinated by floor plans, moving furniture around with my mom, and seeing how a space could completely change with a few thoughtful decisions.

My dad was a builder, so design was always around me in some way. But it wasn’t the path I originally took.

I spent years in New York as a performer, traveling, living the Gypsy life, and seeing the world. Eventually, I knew I wanted to put down roots and return to the other thing I had always felt passionate about: design.

So I went back to school for interior design in New York, and eventually found my way back home to Charlotte, NC.

Sometimes the path makes sense only once you look back. ✨

Our moody contemporary powder room for a new construction project in Charlotte. I incorporated a ceiling mount faucet fixture with lever mounted on the custom inset antique mirror. The fabulous floating marble vanity and full wall splash took a bit of engineering to keep the depth of the mirror flush with the depth of the marble. We also used a @markalexander_ma natural wall covering to add texture and warmth.
Our bachelor client appreciated the sophistication mixed with a masculine vibe. We were thrilled with the outcome!

London, through a designer’s lens. 🇬🇧

Part I of the @christopherfarrcloth retreat took us behind the doors of some of London’s most fascinating spaces, where design, history, and craftsmanship take center stage.

From a private tour of @spencer.house to the craftsmanship of Lock & Co. Hatters, a behind-the-scenes look at Christie’s Auction House, and a private visit to @hamhousent , built in 1610, every stop offered a closer look at the details that make London so enduring.

And, of course, an exclusive visit to the Christopher Farr Cloth showroom to experience the collection firsthand.

A few days spent looking at London a little differently.

So fun to be included in the latest issue of Charlotte Home Design & Decor, especially with a little peek inside my own home.

They featured my music room, which really is one of my favorite spaces. It’s where we play the Steinway, listen to music, read, relax, and usually have Giorgi right there with us.

The designers who influenced my eye.

My approach to interior design has been shaped by designers across generations, each teaching me something different about how a space can feel.

Billy Baldwin’s refined American interiors. John Saladino’s effortless mix of old and new. Bunny Mellon’s understated elegance and connection to nature. Dorothy Draper’s bold use of color, pattern, and personality.

And among the more contemporary designers, I’ve always admired Miles Redd’s fearless use of color and pattern, Suzanne Kasler’s sophisticated yet relaxed interiors, and especially Ray Booth’s ability to balance clean architectural lines with warmth, antiques, and a strong sense of place.

These influences have all played a part in shaping how I approach design today: creating interiors that feel layered, personal, intentional, and meant to be lived in.

The best design inspiration doesn’t come from following one style. It comes from knowing what speaks to you and making it your own.

So excited to share this feature in @vivantmagazine!

“From Grandeur to Grace” takes you inside a home that was such a special project for me, designed for a client who was downsizing but didn’t want to sacrifice the things that made his home feel like his.

We layered in pieces from his incredible art and object collection alongside new furnishings, rich materials, custom details, and plenty of personality. The goal was never to simply recreate what he had before, but to make this new chapter feel just as personal, comfortable, and full of life.
