I just realized I shared my ✨new✨ šŸŒøšŸŽ„Waldorf Festival CardsšŸŖŗšŸ‚to my stories and never gave them a home here. I think they’re quite deserving.🄰

šŸ•ÆļøCelebrate the Waldorf Festival Year with these printable hand-drawn, hand-painted, and hand-written cards. I designed them to work seamlessly with my printable calendar. Just add the holiday card(s) in place of the date(s) each month. They will also look beautiful displayed on a seasonal or nature table.šŸ’«

Many of these cards were inspired by the feeling behind the festivals explored in the book "All Year Round: A Calendar of Celebrations" by Ann Druitt, Christine Fynes-Clinton, and Marije Rowling. It’s my hope that they bring deep satisfaction and reverence to each new home they find themselves in.ā¤ļø

Link is in my bio.

PS—The little hedgie on the ā€œAutumnal Equinoxā€ card was a late addition inspired by my dear friend Jessica @toymakingmagic who’s been sharing all the adorable hedgehogs lately.ā˜ŗļø

Hi! šŸ‘‹šŸ» It’s me, Jess! Here’s a little long-overdue intro/update post:

I’m a former teacher turned homeschool mom about to embark on MIDDLE SCHOOL (and our 7th year of home education—we’ve been at this since kindergarten).

Our little homeschool has experienced such a shift over the past few years. We spent early elementary clinging tightly to Waldorf pedagogy. (It truly was the most wonder-filled and gentle start.) BUT those 2nd grade Saints followed by the Hebrew stories of 3rd grade put our hearts and minds on a path leading away from Steiner’s indications and straight to the Word of God and home to Jesus, which has meant big shifts. (Now, as a disclaimer: I’m not saying *you* can’t have both, but I’ve found we, personally, cannot.)

As we enter a new school year, we’ve left most of Waldorf behind and are really stepping into a classical/Charlotte Mason approach.

I’ve been pretty quiet through all of these changes. I’ve even thought about stepping away from this space in an attempt to be more intentional with my time, but I’ve made some very special connections here through the years as we’ve watched each other’s families grow. I’ve also learned a lot and found so much beauty and inspiration here. (Hopefully I’ve served as a source of inspiration as well.)

So many stepping stones to where I stand today. Many of you have been part of this journey in one way or another, and, for that, I’m ever thankful.

I intend to keep sharing our homeschool journey, though it will certainly look different. I’ll also continue sharing glimpses into my own inner work (books I love, current reads, journaling), things I’ve made, things that are working well for us, (maybe some soup😜), etc.

Perhaps these changes will inspire some new resources in my Etsy shop soon? (If you’re new here, I have an Etsy shop filled with colorful printable Waldorf-inspired resources I’ve made—with lots of love— over the years.

If you’ve read this far, please say hi below, and THANK YOU for being here. I really am so thankful for the wonderful connections I’ve made here through the years.ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ» by @jleejarrin

Drawing and painting these little cards each month has been something I’ve really come to look forward to. I’ve now finished 1/4 of the year. They’re all available in my Etsy shop.🄰

MichaelmasšŸ‰šŸ—”ļøšŸ›”ļø
Waldorf gave us so many beautiful gifts, it just took years to realize what Steiner had truly set before us. I’m sure we’ll bake our traditional loaf of dragon bread at some point this week, but this morning, for the first time, we observed Michaelmas, the ā€œFeast of the Holy Archangelsā€ at Mass.

How extraordinary it feels when the pieces you’ve been collecting over all this time come together and you begin to see the soft edges of a bigger picture—to begin to understand what it all means and just how profound it really is.

The well-loved little felt star pictured here was a Michaelmas gift given to P by her Waldorf early-childhood teachers when she was 5 years old. I never could’ve imagined at the time the journey we’d be bringing it on.šŸ’«ā¤ļøšŸ™

šŸ›”ļøSaint Michael the Archangel,🪽
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray, and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God, cast into hell
Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen. by @jleejarrin

A bit under the weather today, but thankful for some unexpected reading time (and lots of tea). I started this book at the beginning of August. I’m only about 1/3 of the way through because it begs to be read slowly and prayerfully. I’ve been consistently in awe of how raw and beautiful it is and, also, at how much I resonate with so many of St. Augustine’s words. It’s truly a love letter to God in the most intimate way.

I laugh because at one point he mentions, so nonchalantly, by the way, that he’s sharing this work incase it might help a few people. Little did he know how much it would mean to me some 1,600 years later.šŸ„¹ā¤ļø by @jleejarrin

…but you should know this room has looked like this—in varying degrees of tidiness (or untidiness) since July.🫢🧔

I’ll be here, cozy in front of my fake fireplace, pretending it’s cold outside until the end of November, then we transition to ā€œLittle Womenā€ Christmas.

Hi Friends.

Not my usual post, but I recently connected with Stephanie Petters @ofwoodandword in this space and she shared with me a special project she has been pouring her heart into—an illustrated collection of seasonal poems. Here is the description she shared with me:

ā€œDivine World is an illustrated anthology of poems that highlight God’s presence in nature through the seasons. Designed for families, the poems selected demonstrate how the natural seasons mirror the spiritual seasons we experience in our lives.Ā Paired with hand-painted illustrations, discussion questions, and nature-centered activities, families will learn to open their eyes to the grandeur of God in their everyday lives.ā€

She is currently using Kickstarter in hopes of raising the necessary funds to publish her anthology, and the deadline is quickly approaching. If this project resonates with you, please go take a closer look. If you find value in it, please consider supporting her work in any way you feel compelled or able to.

You can learn more about it here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/foolsforheaven/divine-world

Thank you so very much.ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ» It’s never felt more important to support fellow creators.
