What a way to round off her years at JLM Dance! 🥹✨

A huge congratulations to our girl @claradance5 who has been awarded 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 at the 2026 @goldendanceawardsni 🏆

Alongside the award, Clara has won an incredible €1,000 Dance World voucher, a Musical Theatre workshop with Layton Williams and a two-day intensive with TAAFFE Training this October.

We are very proud of you, Clara. Over the last few years in particular, you have thrown yourself into everything - Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Commercial and Musical Theatre - always showing up ready to work. A true all-rounder, an incredibly hard worker and, above all, such a performer. 🎭

As Clara comes to the end of her years training with us at JLM, this feels like a pretty special way to round them off and celebrate everything she has achieved before heading into her next chapter.

And of course, a special mention for mum Sinead - for all the years of lifts, costumes, rehearsals, competitions and everything else that comes with being a dance mum! 🥰

Almost 2 decades of teaching dance 😳, my work as a counsellor - and a LOT of conversations with other teachers along the way have gone into creating this workshop.

Not because I have all the answers, but because I think we need more space to have honest conversations about how we work, how we look after ourselves, and how we actually live outside of dance.

A couple of hours this Sunday to reflect, ask yourself some harder questions and spend time with people who understand the job.

✨️Self-Care Sunday is a practical afternoon for dance teachers across the whole dance community, whatever genre you teach and whether you run your own school or are part of a teaching team.

✨️We’ll look at where your energy is going, the boundaries you have in place, the pressures that come with teaching and running classes, and what you might want or need to do differently.

✨️There’ll be time to reflect, write things down and build greater self-awareness, followed by intentional, realistic action you can actually take back into your working life.

A fantastic set of Musical Theatre exam results for these girls, with every one of them achieving a Distinction and some brilliant marks!

Musical Theatre exams bring together a range of performance skills, including acting, singing, movement and character work, giving students the opportunity to develop confidence, creativity and versatility as performers.

A big thank you to MT teacher @katie_chambers3105 for all her work preparing the girls for their exams and helping them achieve such fantastic results. 👏

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀! 🙌

A new term, a new season and another year of doing what we love.

We've made the plans. We've organised everyone else. We're ready to open the studio doors and get going again.

But this year, let's remember that 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘰𝘰.

Our time off. Our social lives. Our fun. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲. The things that allow us to switch off, recharge and have a life outside the studio.

Looking after ourselves doesn't make us any less committed to our dancers. It helps us keep doing what we love in a way that's sustainable.

So as we head into another busy season, make some space for yourself in it too.

𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 = 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀? 🤯

𝘐𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰.

The drop-offs, pick-ups, rehearsals, uniforms, emails, changing schedules and everything else that comes with dance can add to an already busy week.

𝘈 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.

Get the dates in the calendar. Keep the information somewhere you can find it. Communicate. Share some of the responsibility as your dancer gets older. And remember to factor yourself into the week too.

We can't avoid every stressful moment, but we can be proactive about reducing some of the unnecessary ones.

And to all the parents doing the driving, waiting, organising, paying and supporting...

✨️𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗦✨️

𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲.

September can get busy very quickly.

One of the simplest ways we can help lower our stress levels is to prepare.

𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥...

What does your timetable actually look like? What do you want from your dancing this term? What needs organised? What could you do now that will make life easier when everything gets busy?

Set your intentions. Make a plan. Communicate. Pack the bag. Use your time well. Get the early night.

And give yourself a little patience while you settle back into it all.

We can't avoid every stressful day - but we can avoid adding unnecessary stress by being prepared.

Save this one for the first few weeks back. 💙

Twinkle Toes is a fun and encouraging Ballet & Jazz class for P2 & P3 beginners, designed to help children learn the foundations of dance while building confidence, coordination, musicality and creativity.

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼??

Fear isn't always the enemy. Sometimes fear is useful. It's trying to protect us.

But sometimes the very things that make our hearts happy also come with a little bit of fear.

Sometimes we have to feel the fear and do it anyway!!

Because when we push through that discomfort, we give ourselves the chance to discover what we're capable of. To build confidence. To trust ourselves. To feel more like 𝘶𝘴.

𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦. 𝘐𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘵 - 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦.

We're all human. We ALL have those thoughts, feelings and doubts.
