Almost 2 decades of teaching dance 😳, my work as a counsellor - and a LOT of conversations with other teachers along the way have gone into creating this workshop.

Not because I have all the answers, but because I think we need more space to have honest conversations about how we work, how we look after ourselves, and how we actually live outside of dance.

A couple of hours this Sunday to reflect, ask yourself some harder questions and spend time with people who understand the job.

📍Dungannon, Co. Tyrone
📅 Sunday 27th September
⏰ 2pm
🎟️ £49

✨️Self-Care Sunday is a practical afternoon for dance teachers across the whole dance community, whatever genre you teach and whether you run your own school or are part of a teaching team.

✨️We’ll look at where your energy is going, the boundaries you have in place, the pressures that come with teaching and running classes, and what you might want or need to do differently.

✨️There’ll be time to reflect, write things down and build greater self-awareness, followed by intentional, realistic action you can actually take back into your working life.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀! 🙌

A new term, a new season and another year of doing what we love.

We've made the plans. We've organised everyone else. We're ready to open the studio doors and get going again.

But this year, let's remember that 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘰𝘰.

Our time off. Our social lives. Our fun. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲. The things that allow us to switch off, recharge and have a life outside the studio.

Looking after ourselves doesn't make us any less committed to our dancers. It helps us keep doing what we love in a way that's sustainable.

So as we head into another busy season, make some space for yourself in it too.

𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲.

September can get busy very quickly.

One of the simplest ways we can help lower our stress levels is to prepare.

𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥...

What does your timetable actually look like? What do you want from your dancing this term? What needs organised? What could you do now that will make life easier when everything gets busy?

Set your intentions. Make a plan. Communicate. Pack the bag. Use your time well. Get the early night.

And give yourself a little patience while you settle back into it all.

We can't avoid every stressful day - but we can avoid adding unnecessary stress by being prepared.

Save this one for the first few weeks back. 💙

𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 = 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀? 🤯

𝘐𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰.

The drop-offs, pick-ups, rehearsals, uniforms, emails, changing schedules and everything else that comes with dance can add to an already busy week.

𝘈 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.

Get the dates in the calendar. Keep the information somewhere you can find it. Communicate. Share some of the responsibility as your dancer gets older. And remember to factor yourself into the week too.

We can't avoid every stressful moment, but we can be proactive about reducing some of the unnecessary ones.

And to all the parents doing the driving, waiting, organising, paying and supporting...

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼??

Fear isn't always the enemy. Sometimes fear is useful. It's trying to protect us.

But sometimes the very things that make our hearts happy also come with a little bit of fear.

Sometimes we have to feel the fear and do it anyway!!

Because when we push through that discomfort, we give ourselves the chance to discover what we're capable of. To build confidence. To trust ourselves. To feel more like 𝘶𝘴.

𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦. 𝘐𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘵 - 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦.

We're all human. We ALL have those thoughts, feelings and doubts.

Sometimes we just need a little helping hand to quieten the noise, trust ourselves and keep moving towards the things that make our hearts happy.💙

DWC 2026 !

Wow ! The best 48 hours of my life with the best people. To even qualify for dance World Cup was such a privilege, but to walk away with 3 top 6 placings in the world, in extremely talented categories was insane!

🏆 4th place - senior song and dance duet

🏆 5th place - junior small group tap

🏆 6th place - senior small group S&D

🏆 19th place - senior small group contemporary

I could not be happier ! And I am so proud of all of my team mates 💙💙

✨️𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗦✨️

Competition doesn't always feel fair. It doesn't always go your way. That's part of the experience.

𝘼 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚.

The question now is: what can you control?
✔️ Discipline when motivation dips
✔️ Commitment to the process
✔️ Attention to detail
✔️ Extra preparation where needed
✔️ Trusting your training
✔️ Looking after your physical and mental wellbeing

The dancers who finish the season proud of themselves aren't always the ones who won the most. They're often the ones who know they gave everything they had 💪

One result doesn't define your season, your talent, or your future.
𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱. 𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥.

And if you're struggling with disappointment, self-doubt, performance pressure or confidence, support is available. You don't have to navigate those challenges alone 💙

𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 is something I know personally - not just through training in counselling, but through growing up and working within creative environments myself.

For a long time, I thought perfectionism was about caring deeply, working hard, being committed, disciplined or ambitious.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧.
Fear of not being good enough.
Fear of disappointing people.
Fear that if we stop achieving, performing, helping or proving ourselves, there won’t be much left of our identity underneath it all.

✨️ Creative industries can be beautiful, inspiring and deeply meaningful, but they can also unintentionally reinforce the idea that our worth is tied to performance, praise, achievement or external validation.

That’s one of the reasons Spotlight Support matters to me 💙

▪︎Not because I have all the answers.
▪︎Not because I’m “above” these struggles.
▪︎But because I understand how deeply these environments can affect people psychologically - and I also know healing and support are possible.

𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘶𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘧𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.

You are allowed to be passionate about what you do without destroying yourself in the process.
