A few scenes from my first day in Antalya, Türkiye. I’m incredibly jet lagged but so excited to finally be here, to be just days away from pressing start on the inaugural @taurusmountainrace. I’m staying in the Kaleiçi, or old town, situated just above the Mediterranean coast, with the mountains rising up just beyond.

I’ll be racing, but looking through a different lens than my typical style. That part of me is shifting, and I’m excited to explore it through a photo essay of the odyssey for the forthcoming issue of the Journal.

1,460km & 36,000m of climbing through the Taurus Mountains. We go on Wednesday.

It’s time to go again. A couple of epics on tap this fall, starting with my favorite lap around the backyard at the Idaho Smoke n Fire tomorrow morning, which will be the perfect tuneup for @taurusmountainrace next month. Weather is looking a little wild (snow?) but at least there aren’t any fires.

Kit is dialed aboard my favorite bike ever, this @alliancebicycles art piece/trail crusher, with support from @tailfincycling. I’ll be sharing some live updates from the trail over @mountainathletejournal so follow along if you’d like. Tracking link in bio. Race starts at 6 AM MST tomorrow.

Issue 01 of Mountain Athlete Journal arrives tomorrow (!!) and will be shipped out to contributors and those who pre-ordered this week.

General release goes down on August 12th, coinciding with our launch party in downtown Ketchum at the @stio / @sturtevants_sv store. Issue 01 is with @hemlockprinters in Vancouver, being printed on a mix of Forest Stewardship Council certified and recycled, uncoated paper. I will be headed north soon to see the printing process in action and pick up the magazines❗️

Pre-orders close tomorrow and will ship in a few weeks. Now’s your chance to reserve your copy before general sales open later this summer. All pre-orders come with a special postcard print, and founding subscribers (only 3 of 25 left!) receive a signed, large format print custom made here in the Wood River Valley. All orders in the Sun Valley area will be hand delivered by me, by bicycle.

Excited to share the official cover for the first issue of Mountain Athlete Journal. An independent, print-only publication by and for those of us who move through the mountains with intention and creativity. A tactile pause amidst the busyness of our digital age.

Pre-orders go live tomorrow through July 1st. It’s been a long time dream to make this, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
